Commander In Chief
I really enjoyed the season premiere. Geena Davis did a great job. Donald Sutherland is the man you'll love to hate. It was great that the writers showed how some women on staff weren't receptive to the idea of a female president.
I think this is a way better alternative to "My Name Is Earl".

Since this is the thread I saw first, I shall reply to this one.
I actually liked the show.
Although I wouldn't have wanted to give in to the President saying for "me" to resign. I'd be like "hello why the heck did you even chose me then?" Seriously, he could have found a female running mate that had his "interests" at heart.
I liked Geena Davis' character but I hope she grows a bit of a backbone. She really didn't until Donald Sutherland's character started in on her. (And from the previews it looks like he attempts to sabotage her next week).

I'm sure that will be part of the storyline every week.
I thought the show was decent and I think Davis is great casting.

I really enjoyed the show last night. I passed up Amazing Race to watch it!
Geena Davis is going to rock in this role. Donald Sutherland looks like an evil man, not to mention the tricks he pulls (or so it looks like next week).
I think this is going to be a keeper, at least I hope so.

That is why I love my TiVO! It really helps out when shows overlap or homework has to come first....

It's not the West Wing, but it's pretty cool. I'll keep watching it.

I was considering watching this (if I actually had the time), but then decided I wasn't a lesbian and wouldn't appreciate it enough.

I have yet to actually watch my tape of last night's show, but after reading some of your posts, I'm really excited about this show (it shall be taped alongside Amazing Race until my class schedule changes in November... )

I guess the show was the number one show last night with an estimated 16.2 million viewers. According to Entertainment Tonight that is the highest number for any new show premiered on ABC.

Loved it!
Geena Davis did a great job.
I had trouble understanding why the president would choose a running mate whose views did not align with his own - to the point where he lay on his deathbed telling her to resign. He wanted the women's vote, but surely there were other qualified women out there who would have pulled that in?
I loved the scenes with her husband meeting with the First Lady's staff, being shown the First Lady's office (all pink), meeting with the White House chefs, etc. "Mrs. Clinton didn't bother doing X, and that didn't go over very well." I wonder what his official title will be - surely they can't keep calling him the First Lady??

I think they eventually called him "first gentleman".
I wanted to slap the woman who is the "first lady's" chief of staff. I found it utterly annoying that she kept saying "Mrs. Clinton did this" or "Mrs. Clinton did that". First off, Clinton hasn't been in office for five years and this "term" is supposed to take place after President Bush's, which won't end until 08, and 2 1/2 years later, so we're looking early 2011. I say this because in all technicalities Clinton hadn't been in office for 11 years but this chick was still comparing everyone to Mrs. Clinton. Man, she was annoying . I hope the "first gentleman" tells her to give it a rest. LOL

Hmmm...I don't know....It could also be that this is supposed to take place in 2006 or so, as if the second Bush term never happened (i.e. he decided not to run for a second term). But who knows in TV land??

I think the point was to show that he is experiencing the similar resistance to his new role that his wife is experiencing in her new role. Hillary Clinton was the first First Lady to break convention in her role. It was a subtle way of saying that he would be met with similiar resistance if he chose to break from the convention of his role. And it was funny. I thought it was funny and clever and I am a big Hillary supporter.
I thought the show was very good and I am eager to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
