Randi's Rush Thread
I just joined this site, like, yesterday, but I wanted to post, anyway since I understand that a lot of you are rush thread addicts. I'm a sophomore at Jacksonville State University. We have 5 sororities on campus: Zeta Tau Alpha, Phi Mu, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, and Delta Zeta. Rush actually starts on Friday, August 29, but orientation is Tuesday, August 26. I just moved back on campus today, so I decided I'd go ahead and start this thread. I'm already feeling really, really nervous. For one thing, I'm not too sure how the different sororities here feel about sophomores, juniors, and seniors rushing. I'm also wondering if anyone could tell me what is appropriate attire for orientation. The booklet I was sent tells me what I'm supposed to wear on all the other days, but it doesn't mention orientation. I assume that not mentioning it means that I don't have to wear anything in particular, but you know what they say about assuming. I think my biggest problem, though, is that I can be rather shy when I'm exposed to new situations, and I know perfectly well that standing in the corner and saying nothing is, like, suicide during rush. Does anyone have any advice for me? In spite of being nervous, I'm definitely, DEFINITELY excited. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Good luck! I can't suggest what to wear for orientation because I don't know how your school is-- maybe you can ask your Rho Chi? I remember just wearing jeans and a nice sweater for orientation... ooh typing sweater just made me hot!

Actually, we don't meet our Rho Chis until orientation. I'd already had that thought. I'm really thinking something along the lines of a pair of nice pants and a cute shirt. I think it would be better to go somewhere in the middle of really dressy (which obviously wouldn't be right just for orientation) and really casual (which probably wouldn't be right, either). What do you all think?

Only one more day until orientation!
(Ok, I'll try to control myself now!)

professional casual is a nice way. and you're there. good slacks, nice top, comfy but stylish shoes...all good.
that will get you started.
good luck.
