I've been reading around here a lot since I've decided to rush. I've gotten some much wonderful advice, so I've decided to do as ClassicBeauty is doing and post my recruitment story as it happens.
I'm a sophmore at a Texas school with a not-so-competitive rush. Although, I've always wanted to join a sorority, I didn't my freshman year so I could get adjusted to college life. Also, it's a lifetime commitment, so I wanted to make sure it was what I wanted to do. Here's the chapters at my school (named after my favorite thing, purses

):
Coach - I really like their philanthrophy and had a class with one girl. She is the sweetest ever and really loved her sorority. My dad's girlfriend was a Coach at a different school, so I have a handful of personal rec's. As much, as I want to keep an open mind, I really love this group. All the girls are really down to earth and seem like the kind that I would be life-long friends with.
Burberry - I don't know anyone personally from here, but they are some very classy girls. I have 2 rec's from alumnae. All of them are very involved in campus activities and are very well put together. They are definitely some girls that I would be proud to call my sisters, although they are a little intiminating.
Kate Spade - I went to high school with 3 of the girls from here. One of them I worked with also, and we studied at the house a lot last year. So I've met a bunch of the girls. They are extremely sweet, witty and funny. To me, it seems like I wouldn't be the best friends with some of the girls outside the sorority.
Dooney & Burke - I went to high school with one of the girls, and honestly, I can't stand here. But I'm not going to judge the whole sorority on one girl. They all seem to love eachother a lot and genuinely care for one another. That's really nice to see. Other than that, I don't know a lot about this sorority.
Rush starts next Saturday. I've had my rec's done and my clothes are all picked out. So now, all I have to do is wait, which is really hard! I'm really excited. I love meeting new people and doing the whole akward-chat thing, so I'm really not that nervous. I really want to keep an open mind about each group, but it's hard when I've already been on campus a year. I just want to find my match made in sorority-heaven.
I'll type more next week. Thanks!
