Can I rush as a transfer at Arizona State?

Hi I am going to be a California junior college transfer and was hoping to rush next fall. I have a 3.2 GPA and past organizations to add on for any extracurricular. I will be 20 years old so will my age be too old? And should I explain that I am a transfer student or say I would be considered as a junior? Any information will be super helpful! I'm also interested in any stories of those that rushed as a junior and what their experience was like?
Thank you!

Paging AXOrushadvisor! and asuadpi - who else on the boards is an ASU active/alum that could respond? I honestly know zilch about upperclassmen rushing at ASU. Here at UofA juniors seldom rush, but many sophomores do (and successfully).

Yes! There are 11 Chapters on campus all are very good. You can have a great experience in any Chapter at ASU. We all do the same things. I think some Chapters have different reputations ie smart, involved, social ect. You will not be to old for the Greek system at ASU and Juniors are routinely placed in the process. Having said that, some Chapters may or may not take Juniors based on the class standings of current members in the Chapter.

Keep an open mind. A 3.2 is a decent GPA to go through with but keep in mind that there will be lots of women with higher GPA's going through. Also, make sure you fill out your application completely. Women get released by chapters for not posting GPA's. PLEASE put a picture on your application. It helps the women identify you when you walk into the party. If you can get recommendations do it. ASU is competitive ESPECIALLY for those Chapters that everyone wants to be a part of. A recommendation can get you a second invite back to round 2 which is longer and will allow the women to get to know you better. We will know you are a transfer based on your application so there is no need to explain.

Recruitment is long. Held over two weekends after school starts. It is emotional and can be hard. Stay on top of your school work. It will make it easier. Complete recruitment no matter what! That is the best piece of advise I can give you. You are under NO obligation to sign a bid card. There have been tons of women who have changed their minds about Chapters after sitting in a preference party. Also, stay off the ranking sites. 99.9% of the information on those sites are just not accurate.

I think I answered all your questions. Good Luck!

I encourage you to go through recruitment at ASU! While I can't speak for the other chapters, I do know that ADPi has (and will probably continue to) take juniors into their new member classes.

Recruitment at ASU is a grueling process. I know the final part is conducted over labor day weekend (so be prepared for recruitment activities on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with bid day on Tuesday). There are 11 chapters on campus. They are all amazing chapters. You MUST keep an open mind. I can't tell you how many girls I've come across in my 13 years as an alum that don't do that. You keep an open mind and you will most likely receive a bid (obviously I can't guarantee it).

While rec's aren't necessarily required (not like an SEC school), I do believe they are incredibly helpful. They will allow you to stand out in a crowd of 1000 girls.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask me or AXOrushadvisor.
