I know they are real and they are mainly at the Ivy league school. Some of the United State's most powerful leaders such as the Bushes belong to them.

There are three such secret societies on the campus of Nebraska. There's Theta Nu Epsilon (one of their pins is on sale at e-bay...) Rho Delta (female only) and the Secret Scrollers Society (SSS). So far during first semester they each put out a newsletter that ripped on people in the greek system. They also do a roll call where they make fun of each house. It's funny to read and no really takes them that seriously but of course everyone wonders who is in them and what goes on.
I was looking in some of my chapters history, some correspondence that my roommate put together as his pledge project and TNE was a problem for Beta back in the early part of the 1900s. Now all the actives had told that if anyone found out that a Beta was in one of those organizations they would be stripped of their badge by national, so it's pretty serious stuff I guess.
That's really all I know. I'd be interested to here what else is known.

Oh yeah, there are those 3 at UVa--what are they, Sevens , Imps, and something else? And when someone from the Sevens dies, the chapel bells ring in a certain cadence in the middle of the night. And when a member of a Greek group is chosen for one of those, suddenly the sign of it shows up painted on the house. Wish I could remember the details.

There's more than that at UVA if I'm not mistaken - Secret 7s, IMP, and Zeta (or just "Z") are the most prominent, but we saw more society tags when we were there last spring . . . pretty cool stuff really.

Theres one at Pitt... Its funny, because the memembers arent allowed to say the name, so when you ask them "Are you in XYZ?" They say "Huh?/ What are you takling about... theres no secret society.. thats funny!" instead of saying "No, Im not in XYZ"....
I hope I dont get in trouble because of this

Is that why there are Z's on the sorority houses at UVA? If you look on the Greek Website for UVA sororities they show pictures of each house and I've seen Z's on some, if not all of them.

Here's a link to site shopgirl mentioned (UVA sororities) --
http://www.student.virginia.edu/~isc-uva/chapters.htm
It's pretty cool, because a lot of them have a big Z on the house, or a big IMP, or both. Does anyone know more about this? Do the tags stay there all the time, or do the houses remove them? Would the other sorority members even know who in their house is a member of either group? If your house has both Zs and IMPs, does that create problems? I'm assuming nobody knows how people get into these groups or what they do, since it's a secret, but I'm curious! It's really fascinating.
