I would say that competitive schools aren't the majority. Most of the competitive schools are the SEC athletic conference schools, and there are a few others here and there that most GCers would consider to be as well.

There are alot of schools at which juniors regularly receive bids. Too many for someone to just list them off.

Just decide where you'd like to go based on the important criteria (location, academics, and such) and then worry about recruitment when the time comes.

A note though, in general (at most non-competitive schools), most women who present themselves well, have good grades, and are open-minded about the chapters on campus will receive a bid.

Agreed. It is also a good idea to prepare letters of recommendation for the sororities on the campus you ultimately choose. Even if they are not required at the school, it will help to give you a leg up as an upperclassman. Also be ready to beef up your resume to include any other sorts of extracurricular activities at your old school such as Student Government, Honor Societies, and other clubs.

No idea about the other ones, but as far as I understand LMU can be pretty tough for juniors.

northeastern accepts juniors... we're also getting another new sorority by next year, so you'd have plenty of opportunity.

Seriously. It's Pitt (I'm a Pitt alum)

It is possible for juniors to get bids to sororities at Pitt, or at least it was a few years ago. I think that it is less likely now than when I was an active (1999-2002). It's a bit more competitive now since the new release figures started being used. I don't think my chapter has pledged a junior for several years.

As at every school, if you want to rush as a junior, you have to keep a very open mind. If I had to guess, I'd say that as to the top half or so of chapters on campus, you'd have somewhat of a difficult time getting a bid. But I think you'd have a decent chance at the other 4-5.

I don't think Pitt does a separate junior quota during formal rush. I could be wrong though.

GWU has a separate quota for upperclassmen, so juniors can and do get bids.

I probably won't end up going there so it probably won't matter if I said it wrong...

Otherwise, thanks again for replying

Ok I'm back...I did some more research and I'm finding that the best Greek systems are in the South, but they're also the most competitive. Does anyone know about BSC or SMU and how accepting they are to juniors??

A general rule of thumb (yes, there are always exceptions) that the more competitive the greek system, the less of a chance you as a junior has at getting a bid.

And you'll have even less of a chance since you're transferring and won't know anybody in the greek system. At a lot of those schools, if a junior does rush and get a bid, she likely knew a lot of of the ladies and is well established and well known at those schools.

I can tell you alot of those Greek systems are ones at which it is very difficult for juniors to get bids. SMU stands out as particularly competitive for juniors. It is DOUBLY difficult for junior TRANSFERS to get bids because they don't know anyone.
