Excellent news. Elmhurst College is little jewel of a campus. There should be alot of competition between the NPC groups to see who they choose to affiliate with. I'll be watching this one closely like I did with Roosevelt University (Chicago). Congrats again to Alpha Gamma Delta for their colony/chapter (I think it's still a colony, I need to check) there.

The Beta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at Roosevelt University was installed on May 3.

More Gamma Phi Beta chapters!

The following announcement was made in an email distributed today from Gamma Phi's International Council (we had heard about the third one on this board, but the other two were news to me):

Future collegiate extension plans: Several presentations on campuses open for extension have occurred throughout the spring. IC is pleased to announce that Gamma Phi Beta has accepted invitations to colonize at the following universities:

Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio (fall 2008). Gamma Phi Beta will be the first NPC group on this growing campus just outside of Cleveland, Ohio.

Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri (fall 2008). Gamma Phi Beta will recolonize our Delta Nu Chapter on this campus formerly known as Southwest Missouri State University.

University of North Carolina-Pembroke in Pembroke, North Carolina (spring 2010). Along with the university, Gamma Phi Beta will consider campus conditions at that time with the intention of colonizing on this campus.

Do you know if the Missouri State colonization was a result of Tri Sigma leaving campus or was campus expansion already in the works even before the chapter's closing?

Nevertheless, congratulations to my Triad Sisters and their growing sisterhood!

I don't know anything about it, actually. Just what was in that email.

If I remember correctly, the only NPC org at Missouri State is ZTA. This would make Gamma Phi Beta the second national sorority on campus and force the formation of a campus Panhellenic Council.

I think the Tri Sigma thing was at another Missouri school, SEMO maybe???

No, MO State (formerly SW Mo State) was the school where we closed recently:

They have 5 NPCs.

Aren't there now more than 1 "Missouri State"s? Missouri State - City or Town?

I don't think so. Just a two-year branch campus in West Plains, and a research campus in Mountain Grove.

According to this http://www.missouristate.edu/assets/..._1-23-2008.doc they opened for expansion after agreeing that SSS should be allowed to return in 2012 if apprpriate for expansion.

Missouri State University is in Springfield. Catiebug may have confused MSU with Missouri Southern State University (located in Joplin). They have a chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha and a chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha.

To clarify the 'state universities' in Missouri:

Missouri State University - Springfield
Truman State University - Kirksville
Northwest Missouri State University - Maryville
Southeast Missouri State University - Cape Girardeau
Missouri Western State University - St. Joseph
Missouri Southern State University - Joplin

It's my understanding (we've got chapters at all of these which is the only reason I have anything resembling a clue) that MWSU & MSSU are significantly smaller and not on the same tier (LOL) as the other schools mentioned. They haven't been universities for terribly long.

There's also the University of Central Missouri, which used to be Central Missouri State University.

Truman was Northeast MSU and Missouri State was Southwest MSU.

-33girl, who is very glad that whole Cal U of PA name change thing got nipped in the bud.

Lake Erie College has one local sorority. Is Gamma Phi Beta absorbing them or doing a 'ground up' colonization?
