Yummy. I finally get a chance to sit down and eat my lunch, and read the paper.
Funny because, I'm reading a really good article about foods we shouldn't put in a refrigerator. Most of the foods they're saying we shouldn't put in the refrigerator, those are the foods, I always put in the refrigerator.
So far, they've been talking about tomatoes, melons, potatoes, onions, garlic, apples, berries, and stone fruit (most of what's in my lunch). I always put my peaches and nectarines in the fridge, as well as my apples, grapes, oranges, and tomatoes. They're saying why they shouldn't be kept in the fridge, but I still don't see how it would taste or be better at room temperature. Interesting article, though.

Oh, and I couldn't find the "Football Thread" so I'll just post it here that I'm excited about my Vikings first preseason game this friday. I'm looking forward to that. It's just that we need a new stadium, like now.

Where do people like to buy their business clothes? I'm going to be heading into interviews soon and have been trying to shop. However, everything seems less professional (more trendy), doesn't have sleeves, doesn't fit me quite right or is super expensive (not spending $300 on a dress). Any hints? I"ve looked at Nordstrom, Anne Taylor, JCrew and Banana Republic.

^^^I suppose it depends somewhat on the type of job, but daughter found quite a bit at The Limited. You might also try Black and White or Cache (eh, never mind, that's a little too dressy for work and on the spendy side anyway). I find some pretty nice median-priced things (nothing fancy but dressy enough) at Kohl's and Macy's. I know a lot of women who rave about Barbara Johnson in Lake Grove on Bryant, but I don't know the styles they carry or how old it skews since I've never been in there. Chico's - Washington Square and I know there's one in Lake O as well as some other upscale clothing store around the corner in Lake O's little corner mall thingy. Of course, it's Lake O, so I can't say it'll be reasonably priced.
You couldn't find anything at Nordstrom's? I don't know which ones you looked at but I know that the Washington Square and downtown Nordstrom's carry more than Clackamas and Lloyd Center Nordstroms.
Have you tried downtown/Pioneer Square?
Hope that helps.

I haven't ventured over to LO or downtown. Mainly just looked at Washington Square and Tanasbourne. I live in Sylvan so mainly it's just sucking it up and going. I will try the limited. I always forget about them! Nordstrom was overrun with the sale, so I should probably go back and see what's left.

I got a great suit at Banana Republic in their suiting separates. Sometimes you can catch a sale and it's worth it. Mine is navy and I got the skirt and blazer, then picked the pants up later.
Depending on where you end up working, the on-trend/business casual stuff might be appropriate. Worry about interview clothes first rather than trying to build an entire professional wardrobe. Check Nordstrom Rack/Macy's clearance section (they have a whole suits section at mine - you can get suits there for like $90). I tend to get more expensive stuff as "staples" then swap in less expensive stuff that I find at H&M or Old Navy to keep it fresh.
If you can get a suit that has both a skirt and pants, you're in good shape. You can wear a different shirt and it's almost like having two different suits (or an interviewer would have to be paying very close attention to notice that the blazer was the same) for second interviews.

I don't blame you on that one WC. I kind of dread the downtown jaunts and don't care for the crowds at the malls...or shopping extensively for that matter. I can do it for about an hour - then I'm done. Good luck with the shopping and the interviews!

I throw myself at the mercy of the personal shopper at Macy's. It doesn't cost any more. You just need an appointment. They might pull out something different.

It seems a lot of PNMs are posting with recruitment attire inquiries/pics/links. I'm not complaining - just pointing out that we don't usually get many threads like that, and we currently have several. Is it Polyvore? Pinterest? What is it that's behind the sudden increase?

I think it is partly Pinterest and Polyvore but I also think once we have a couple, others jump on the bandwagon after seeing some get good advice.

I hate that I have allergies. I haven't stopped sneezing since 7 this evening.

What's wrong with sleeveless?
I just started a new job and I've been buying clothes for interviews. Banana Republic and J.Crew were my best options since I can wear their stuff without needing alterations. NY and Co. has good stuff, but it seems like it's cut large.
