So the final deliverable of every project I do is a report. We are evaluated on meeting certain milestones through the course of an audit and one of those milestones is titled "draft report". This draft report is read and vetted by about 7 people before it is published as a final report. My boss at the beginning of the year counted the "draft" as complete when he approved it (first level mgmt approval) and we sent it to the director (second level mgmt approval). New boss counts the "draft" as complete when it has gone through 3 levels of mgmt and an in person review with our Director II and sent to the client for review. I set the milestones for this audit based on the first criteria but am being measured by the second criteria, which had me kind of freaked out but I decided I could go into really high gear and get it done on time. My due date is 8/22 so as long as I could a meeting scheduled with Director II by 8/20, I should be good, even though I had planned on having my team lead approving it by that date. Because it is extremely difficult to get on Director II's calendar, I decided I better schedule that review meeting, even though I'm no where near ready to begin writing the report. I'll be on her calendar. Excellent, she had open appointments on the 20th. I have to send her the report two days in advance so I would have til the 16th to write it and get it approved by two levels of mgmt. Tight, but if I push, I could do it. Except that my team lead, who has to be at that meeting too, is off work the 20th, and the 17th. The only day I can get this meeting before my deadline is the 15th. Which means I have to have it written and through three layers of mgmt by the 13th. I don't even finish my fieldwork until the 8th. Looks like there is a lot of overtime in my near future. This place is insane.

Not that this excuses the behavior at all, but that's what it sounds like to me. I doubt that it is a richness/entitlement issue. Honestly, I see this a lot with guys my age, of all economic spectrums.

I was also thinking that it could have been a house sitter using their property to socialize (with permission) and it got out of control. Since they don't live there full time, why would they care about what they do or think to apologize. I haven't heard the wife outside in the garden, and I only heard a male voice calling the dog once, so they could both be out of town.
It could also be shame, apologizing would be admitting they behaved unacceptably and having to show their face. Regardless, I now think they are crappy neighbors and that sucks for the future.

I'm actually pretty bummed that I have to wait a week or so for another Dance Moms episode. I am officially pathetic.

I liked the Batman movie. Nerd that I am, I was hoping that Dick Grayson would show up, and was sad when that opportunity seemed to pass by. I was a little miffed about that by the end. Everything else, though, I loved. It actually surprised me in some places.

Just walked in the door from Cedar Point, and I am so freaking exhausted and sleepy. One thing I can say, roller coasters do a lot of wear and tear on the body. I'm waiting for my bath water to get done running, and then I going to bed. I am so sleepy. Oh, and the light show concert was freaking awesome! I had so much fun!

I was watching at my parents' and for some reason, the cameraperson decided to set up the camera so that the view just sees the vault. So we saw a gymnast do a beautiful twisting arc in her dismount...and heard the crowd cheer as she landed off-camera. THEN he/she realized the mistake and widened the angle.
I am sooooo proud of those girls but HOLY COW, I felt old listening to them talk about their first time seeing the Olympics...in 2004....when they were 8.

Bad dreams ruin your whole day before it even gets started.

Sorry... wish that hadn't happened to you. It's been a long time since I had a bad dream, and I'm grateful. I "program myself" (self-talk) to sleep restfully and peacefully, and it works most of the time.
On another note:
Let the games begin... PRWW starts Saturday at University of Arizona. Last I heard there were about 1100 PNMs (=/-) with registration closing today; and I expect that quota will once again be in the 80s (or higher?). We are all holding our collective breath to see what the impact of the Friday "off" day will be; the PNMs will receive their preference invites on Thursday evening for Saturday preference. All sorts of scenarios could play out. Stay tuned. I'm going to be off line/no posts on GC (with the exception of BadgeTrends) until after our recruitment is finished. Kind of wishing for a good train wreck to take my mind off things!

My heels are so blistered that I gave in and walked to the dentist and home barefoot. Thank god it's hot and sunny out.

OK. I have to rant here because if I rant on Facebook it might get back to the wrong people.
A certain associate of mine is living up to his name.
DICK.
As in dickHEAD.
Part of me wants to slug him. Part of me doesn't want to go to jail. What a dilemma.

Oh boy. Haven't been on in a while, but I feel like screaming. The relative I was supposed to stay with in San Jose for one evening called and cancelled on me. I fly out tomorrow morning. This is peachy, I'm not sure where I'll be staying for the night, since I only had enough to book a hotel for one night (which is why I asked to stay with them AGES in advance).
commence panic attack.
I know this is super weird, but is anyone in the area that would be willing to loan me a couch for the night?

And that.. was very careful, but fortunately the sidewalks in this part of town are sweeped almost daily and quite clean.
