Question I need help with!

Right, Im a U.K. first year uni student, currently studying law. For my third year I am transferring to an american uni, to complete my degree and to spend a further 3 years there to complete my post grad. I have several questions, if someone could help me? xxx
1) At 19 would I be too old to rush?
2) Would the fact that Im foreign affect my chances?

At 19, you certainly wouldn't be too old to rush - at most schools. Your very best bet is to read the hundreds of threads under Rush, and see if any of the threads even mention the school in which you're interested.

Obviously, each school is different. The rules (both the rules of the school, and the unwritten rules of those who have been through rush at the school) will range from incredibly strict to downright casual. That said, it is NOT always to your advantage to say which school you're going to attend on a message board, as many of the various sororities read the posts, and may make a quick decision based on one poor post. Again, as you read the Rush Forum, you'll notice that most Potential New Members will use nicknames for the different GreekLetterOrganizations, just to maintain some privacy.

As for being foreign, many chapters would consider that an asset! Love those British accents!

For the most part, the people of GreekChat are more than happy to help you through the process, though! The only stupid question is the one that's not asked. Good luck, and I do hope that you find a sorority home while here!

Weird question: Welshwoohoo is studying law. If she transfers to a US school, would she still be in law school? Law school is a professional, post graduate program in the US. Would that be a problem?

Their system is somewhat different than ours. I'm assuming that she means pre-law. Welshwoohoo, is that right?

No. In the UK there is no pre-law. You may study law at the undergrad level, and then qualify to become a barrister or solicitor. There is no need to complete a degree then go to law school.

It depends on the university you transfer to and the chapter you want to join.

Age is not as much of a factor as your progress in school - many sorority / fraternity chapters don't like to rush people who only have one or two years of school left, but some will. Good luck!
