I love the little bolero/shoulder detail on this, but not in that fabric. I'm getting way too picky! Must be because I found a semi-inexpensive seamstress!
If this had just illusion instead of all that lace, I'd love this! It's close to the neckline & sleeves I like:

I love this dress! It's refreshing to see something with shoulders and sleeves. A lot of the strapless dresses are beautiful, but I personally don't feel comfortable showing that much skin in church.
ETA: And if you like dresses with shoulders and sleeves, check out www.latterdaybride.com It's geared toward members of the Morman church, but they have some lovely gowns for people who like to be a little more covered up.

If you're looking for a shorter dress:

I really dislike the first one. I just don't think pointy hips (with pockets!) are attractive on anyone.

IDK if I can do a shorter dress. I'm 5 feet even and everyone keeps suggesting the short above the knee dress or the tea length dress. Ew, but that's my opinion. Thoughts?

We're the same height and my biggest suggestion would be to stay away from any shape that looks like it's going to eat you alive. Keep the shape as close to your body as possible. So, no ballgowns or anything with ridiculously full skirts. It IS your personal decision though. lol.
When I think of good dresses for our height, I think of:

THOSE are the kind of dresses that I was thinking of. Everyone seems to want me to do the big poofy ball gown. Um.. NO. *looking at my mother*
/passive aggressiveness, lol
