N.Y. Gov. Creates French-Indian War Panel

N.Y. Gov. Creates French-Indian War Panel

Wed Nov 24,12:15 PM ET U.S. National - AP

ALBANY, N.Y. - New York Gov. George Pataki has signed legislation that creates a French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission.

The 19-member commission is charged with promoting the 250th anniversary of the war that pitted Britain and the American colonies against the French and their Indian allies.

The first shots in the war were fired in western Pennsylvania in 1754. The major fighting ended in 1760, with France surrendering Canada to the British in a treaty signed three years later.

In between those years, upstate New York was the site of several important battles, from Lake George in the east to Fort Niagara in the west.

The commemoration commission will be in charge of promoting French and Indian War anniversaries beginning next year and running into 2010.

Major events such as battle re-enactments are planned during that span in Lake George, Ticonderoga, Fort Niagara and elsewhere.

Perhaps there should be a panel of PA, NY, QU and ON delegates to commerate this event. It defined North American culturewfor a long time and in Canada it is still a defining role (There are still 2 islands in North America that are controlled by France). It is good to see that there si a commeration of the colonial history that extends beyond the American cival war, or the final battle between the French and English in Quebec.

North America is the best continent ever. It should be one giant Federal Republic. A Federal Republic made up of three federal Republics. Wow. I love this Phish DVD. And this scarf that a cute DZ made for me. I forget which thread I am in. Happy Thanksgiving.

Wow, Gov. PattyCake of New York.

Who in the hell is going to pay this 19 member fact finding and money grubbing Commission?

Damn, read History books from both sides of the "WAR"!

Poloticians are in a strong hold of running countrys and so line their pockets from intrest groups!

What do Lobbiests do but dole out money and favors for beggers with a lot of $$$$$$$$$$!!

I wonder what our Founders would think of the Governement by the people and for the people has become today!

Being a Political today is a Vocation just like anyother Big Business!

Why do you think that when term limits come up it goes down like the Red Baron in WW I!

I abstained for voting for a Raise, well, an abstntion is a yes vote but looks better for us dummies that keep voting them back in office!

I dont ever want to be a Politcal, I dont like the smell of an unwashed ass that wants to be kissed!
