It doesn't get much more random than this...
My mama is getting her hair done, and I've been cleaning house. Y'all have to remember, I was starting to clean on 31 January when I got the call that she was having a heart attack - this place is a mess!!
Anyhow, I'm taking a break, I have the soundtrack from "Love, Actually" on, and if I were a cat, I'd be purring! I just feel so wrapped up in the love of a getting-better mother, a (somewhat) neater house, knowing I'm going to see mr. honeychile in just 3 weeks, and sisters who mean SOOOO much to me!!
Life is good.

I just got home from GU's initiation. I have to tell you ladies. I forgot home much I love our intiation!!! It is awesome!! But the best part about this trip to the house was the ceremony, it was treated with the respect that our alumna deserve. The girls actually looked up to me and listened to what I had to say. It was great!!!

Omigosh, your post made me puddle up!!
Actives, I promise you that your first initiation after you become an alumna will be second ONLY to your own initiation!
Sherra, I am positively thrilled that the actives gave the alumnae respect! I have left Jewel Degree almost in tears in the demanding attitude of sisters, and we were taught to stand when an alumna walked into the room (but this is now considered hazing).
I feel all warm & fuzzy!

lonestar, have you heard anything yet from EO? I found some of my old Adelpheans as I was cleaning my room today, and if the one I'm looking at is the one you were searching for, it's the Winter 2003 edition, with our badge (ruby 4-point and pearls) on the cover that says Diamonds are Forever. If you still want a copy of the article, and you don't mind a photocopy of it, I can try and get one run off in the next day or so and mail it out to you.

I'm so glad you were able to be a part of Gamma Upsilon's initiation (congrats to the ladies of Gamma Upsilon, by the way! ) I can't wait until the next time I can participate in an initiation....hopefully sometime soon, if not, there's always Jewel Degree!

Is it just for standing in front of alumnae that's considered hazing? Maybe this is a whole different ball of yarn, but when our province director came to visit the chapter, we all *knew* to stand the minute she walked in the door!

I think it is a respect thing. I dont think it is hazing. But that is my honest opinion.
This wasn't my first initiation since going alum. But this was my first initiation back at my home chapter in almost 4 years. I think it takes a little while being away from the chapter to get the respect you truly deserve, otherwise they just view you as another graduated Delta, not a Pi. Does that makes sense? I love Jewel Degree even more...hehe I get to do that in 3 weeks
Again, I had sooooo much fun!!!
Congratulations to the 8 New Deltas from Gamma Upsilon!!!!
