Corporate Support for 9/11

I thought this was pretty awesome of my company and wanted to share it here with you all. In remembrance of 9/11 my company sent out an American Flag pin to every single employee to wear to work tomorrow. For the employees in Canada, Germany, England and Ireland the pin has a US flag along with the flag for the respective country.

Keep in mind we're talking over 50,000 employees worldwide. It may not be a huge gesture, but I thought it was cool nonetheless. Does anyone else work for a company that did something similar?

pbear19,

Wow! Kudos to your company for such a wonderful gesture of respect.

I don't believe that my company has anything special scheduled for tomorrow for employees. However, we have canceled all phone interviews for the day so that no one will be interrupted by our interviewers on the anniversary of the attacks. (I work for a marketing research firm that does a lot of consumer surveying via our call center, so shutting down the center for a whole day is a pretty big deal.)

My husband's company closed yesterday, employees were encouraged to volunteer in their communities that day instead. Unfortunately, DH is travelling now and had to work anyway. Small factoid, the company is probably the largest in the nation, if not world, in their industry.

I just started a job in R&D recently myself. The company didn't even lower their flag at my offices yesterday until someone asked why the flag wasn't flying at half-mast. Yes, it's another major international company.
