Trying this again

So, I'm back, and after a few years straight of Greek life mishaps, I'm ready to try this again. University sure is interesting, but I believe I've improved since the last time I had a go at this. Formal recruitment at my school starts in the next couple of weeks, and I'm super excited, though my hopes aren't up this time because of what's happened in semesters past (if something happens, then it happens, if not I'm ok and I'll live.)

And because I'm such a The 1975 fan, I'm gonna name the groups after the boys.

At my school we've got:
Matty Healy, George Daniel, Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and then there's one I'm just gonna call The 1975 because I've ran out of members to use lol

Will update after everything happens with results.

Well, bless your heart, honey. You have been through the ringer more times than usual. Rush as a junior is difficult at almost every campus, unless they have upperclass quotas. Having already pledged & left 2 local organizations on campus will make this a REALLY big challenge. Keep your chin up.

Have you transferred or are you still at the same school? If you are at the same school, your Greek community is rather small. I don't see another formal recruitment (your third?) being successful. I would encourage you to look again at BSP and reconsider formal recruitment.

Yes, the Greek community may be small at her school, but if I am correct on the campus, it is mainly a commuter school. Or it was in the past, I feel certain it is branch of a major state university. I advised at a branch for several years and there is a lot of turnover in membership. Students transferring in and out. If it has been two years since OP went through formal, there really might not be a lot of people there who know her and the situation. If she presents herself well, being a junior might not matter all that much. I am not guaranteeing that it is a slam dunk, but it may not be as long a shot as some think. I also believe that if truly she feels like she posted above that she can weather the disappointment if it doesn't turn out well she'll be fine either way. Good luck to OP.

So it's a tough situation

I decided to drop out of registration for phc recruitment last week, as it begins tomorrow and I could still get my money back.

There are still two groups on campus I am interested in that weren't phc, these two have events over the next few weeks so we'll see how that goes!

I'm still excited.

Sorry it's been so long.

I need to come clean to you all on this thread - and although you may not understand it, it is my reality. I am genderfluid. This means some days I identify as female, some days as male, some days both, and some days neither. I am outside the gender binary of male/female.

Being so, I opted to drop out of panhellenic recruitment to look at the fraternities at my school that were recruiting. Two told me they would consider me as long as I was willing to identify as male on legal paperwork as far as their national office was concerned.

I started attending events for those two fraternities. In the end, one offered me a bid and I accepted it in early October. As it is now January, I am a fully initiated active member of my chapter, my forever home.

My path to greek was different than most, but I love my brothers with all my heart and wouldn't dare want to be anywhere else.

And yes, our national office knows the circumstances of my person and are fine with it, as long as financial matters are met and I remain a good standing member of our community.

Please, if you're going to berat my lifestyle choice and my identity do not bother replying - am I who I am and I will not change to fit a world that would not accept me. Instead I found the people who respected me for who I was, and for that I'm forever grateful.

To the future.

This is wonderful news. I'm pleased you were able to find a fraternal chapter that works for you and the organization, since that's what matters.
