Mixer Ideas

What are some good themes for mixers with sororities? i am looking for anything that works well or ones that were a flop. Anything can help!

Tied To You- Every guy places a tie that is distinguishable from those of his brothers, this box is then taken to the sorority house where each girl picks out a tie unaware which brother it was that placed the tie in it. At time of mixer girl wears said tie and brothers seek out the girl. It helps to break any ice and if some of the guys put ties that are somewhat similar placing a simple pin or small marking on the mark alleviates the problem. It is great way to begin mingling with the other house and everyone loves a night of nice attire!

APhi-ver~ This one was done with our local APhi chapter, where it might not be applicable for you it was extremely successful right before Halloween this last fall. Everyone dressed in either doctor, surgeons, nurse or patient attire. It made for a night that while it lacked any real direction was alot of fun and has been talked about as an "amazing mixer" and "something that has to be done again" and was the night after their philanthropy for cardiac care so it was our house's way of donating to a good cause.

Pumpkin Carving Competition
The night before Halloween we had a small pumpkin carving event where we purchased pumpkins and utinsels for creating our creations. We divided up one brother to two sorority girls for the competition. Each team had an hour to create anything they wanted as long as it fit into one of three categories- scary, cute, greek. Prizes consisted of clothing from the school store and some small gift cards. It was full of laughs with our new members cooking pumpkin seeds and treats that our sweet house mothers had made.

Rushed to find a winter mixer theme we picked this theme with the intent of "Wear Something White, Wear Somthing Tight" While it established a decor for the event it was without any direction and event to kinda push interactions.

You obviously haven't visited the womens' clothing departments that are full of white jeans every September, because white pants are only flattering on women who weigh a pound. Plus - white clothes at a mixer would get dirty and spilled on.

Ya it was something we threw together in a couple days and like I said it was a dismal flop, biggest mistake ever!
