I just had to go through this thread again and remember who everyone was that I follow, haha. But I love seeing what everyone is interested in.

*bump*
now that it's summer and I have more free time, I'm enjoying spending some of that time on Pinterest. Haven't posted much to my own account recently, but am loving KSUViolet's boards (she makes me want to get married a bunch of times and plan parties and spend insane amounts of $ on pretty stuff), along with several other GCers' boards.
Question: Pinterest v. Tumblr - any opinions? Somehow I'm not "getting" Tumblr nearly as much as I am Pinterest. Something about ease of use and organization makes the latter much more appealing to me.

I don't care for tumblr. It's kind of clunky to me. I tend to use it only to find things to Pin.

I have both, but I'm much more active on Pinterest and just follow people (funny .gif blogs mostly, I'm easily entertained) on tumblr. In my head, tumblr is for funny pictures of cats and people complaining to their Internet audience, whereas pinterest is for pretty pictures of clothes and food, crafting ideas, and avoiding people's "thinspriation" boards.

I used to be an active tumblr user, but now I prefer Pinterest for very specific reasons. I loved tumblr for the gorgeous images, mostly. Pinterest has the same thing, but I can categorize it into boards that I can see, rather than with tags like on tumblr. I also love that instead of just having pictures of food, it links to the recipe. There are also lots of great crafting ideas. I love the fact that the clothing on Pinterest usually has hyperlinks or references to the place where I can go and buy it. Tumblr doesn't have any of that. It's just pretty pictures. I guess what it boils down to for me is that tumblr is more of a photo album and Pinterest is more of a resource.

Anyone know if you can get rid of a pinner appearing on your Pinterest opening page? I repinned something that this woman posted and now whenever I log on, my opening page is practically all pins of this woman-undoubtedly she is a photographer. it is driving me crazy! I did a bit of research on the problem and it sounds like there is nothing we can do-you can't block people on Pinterest, so I was hoping that someone here might know a trick.

Go back to her original pin, and click on it until you get to the source page, then you add it you your board using a Pin It button if you have added one of those to your navigation bar. Otherwise you just have to delete the pin of hers on your account. Good luck!

I've been "attending" some webinars about using social media for marketing travel services. I didn't really get it about Pinterest, but experts say it moves market better than Facebook. But I'm learning, and it is a vicious time killer. So now I've been trying to update my blog, my business Facebook, my pinterest AND my linked in as often as I can. It's a job unto itself!
