I think KD would welcome another NPC group which would allow a Panhellenic to be formed and and there would be some National Panhellenic guidance, which I don't believe they have now. The group mentioned who wants to go national is one of the newer groups on campus. I think about 12 years old. As it is now, chapter sizes range from 90+ to around 10 or 12 so there is not a lot of consistency. KD is doing fairly well now but it was not easy task. I also understand the fraternities have not been anxious for the sororities to go National, either.
This is just what I have gathered from the bits and pieces, I have been told.

Yes. All of those members graduated years ago at this point.
I believe this is the last local sorority (recognized by the university) left a UB.

Why would the fraternities care? And why would the sororities care that they care?

Presumably the fraternities care because of NPC's alcohol regulations and other rules- not being able to pay for alcohol and other restrictions for events, etc. Locals can get away with a lot more in that respect.

Also, Sewanee is Episcopalian and most of the Episcopalians I know here are members of national GLOs. I think most if not all of the fraternities are national so it makes sense that daughters of national sorority alums would be interested in their moms' groups.

My second cousin attends school there though I think this is her last year. Her mom is a Theta. I don't think she ended up joining any of the groups.

Delta Upsilon
Delta Upsilon is reviving chapters at Clarkson and Carnegie Mellon and Iowa State this fall. Elon College should be installed as well. Next spring DU is reviving Delaware and is colonizing at Kentucky. DU has revived or installed eight new chapters in 2010-2011.

(this is all just musing, don't mind me)
I see ZTA is colonizing like crazy, which makes me wonder if they're going to present at USC.
Which made me remember that most of the House Bunny was filmed at SC (not the Greek houses, but I think all the shots on campus), and the "Zeta" in that movie was not exactly a sorority that would succeed here. I personally think it would be a cool house, and "Zeta" doesn't really reflect on ZTA, but it just made me think. I doubt ZTA would be against colonizing here because of that movie, though.

Actually, if they're colonizing like crazy, they probably would not take on a huge deal like USC. It's one of those places you have to turn down other places for (unless Bill Gates is bankrolling it).

You realize that the ZETA in the movie was not based on ZTA don't you?

USC isn't open, as far as I know.

Here's the official announcement of Alpha Xi Delta's recolonization at the University of Maryland in the fall of 2012.

I know this goes back a while, but did Phi Mu ever charter their Theta Iota colony at Augusta State? It colonized in 2009, but isn't there now.
