The campus paper's article said that 189 women received bids. So if the numbers you know or heard about for Kappa, Phi Mu and Alpha Phi are correct, then Pi Phi would have issued 47 bids for the addition to come out right. ( 47 + 48 + 47 + 47 )

I think.

Maybe everything will be clarified in the future.

Then again . . .
Ha! Good point. Since my last post I found out via facebook that Alpha Phi got 48. That's also where I got 48 for Phi Mu. I don't think Kappa, Alpha Phi or Phi Mu had any girls decline on the spot (I know Kappa didn't). So, that would mean Pi Phi issued 46 bids, if the News-Letter's numbers are to be believed, but I'm pretty sure they got fewer than 40 New Members.

So, either girls declined bids, or I'm wrong, or the News-Letter is wrong. Any one of those things is totally plausible. I think their last day of COB is today, so the final number will be higher anyway.

Also, for the record, Kappa COBed up to total over the weekend and now has a new member class of 49.

ETA: I hope the university makes good on their word to look into expansion again, because these pledge class sizes are getting waaay too big. IMHO 20-30 is a better number. Pi Phi seems to be doing pretty well so I think the university could definitely take on another chapter, even though it's only been 2 years (I mean, they're already at least matching quota, which my chapter didn't consistently do until ten years after colonizing). I believe they have an agreement to give Theta the first crack at it, which would probably be ok now that the last of the initiated members from the closed chapter graduated last year. The last of their final new member class, which was never initiated, will graduate in May.

I know that you have most of this information already, but here are the full stats for UCLA from Fall formal 2011:

Total (floating total set after formal recruitment): 150
Quota: 38FR + 16UP

Alpha Chi Omega - 39+6
Alpha Delta Pi - 40+18
Alpha Epsilon Phi - Did not participate in formal recruitment
Alpha Phi - 38+17
Chi Omega - 41+18
Delta Delta Delta - 29+16
Delta Gamma - 39+18
Gamma Phi Beta - 40+17
Kappa Alpha Theta - 39+17
Kappa Delta - 39+18
Kappa Kappa Gamma - 40+16
Pi Beta Phi - 40+18

Fun fact: 87% of women were pledged to their 1st choice chapter from their preference bid card.
I heart Gamma Phi Beta

Thanks for that. My OCD rears its ugly head with all the blanks floating around on the lists!
