Yes, they are passed down.
The NPC delegate, Archivist and Archivist Emeritus also have similar style badges which are passed down.

Alpha Phi Omega has a National Presidential "Presidential Dumaflage(sp?)" that is worn by the National President on a ribbon around the neck. Passed down from National President to National President...

As much as I love my badge, I must say - those amethyst ones are GORGEOUS!

Sigma Kappa's latest edition of The Triangle mentions a special edition badge option to celebrate our upcoming transition into the NPC leadership roles. It celebrates the NPC color green with alternating emeralds and pearls.

Someone posted it on here I think. It's definitely in a thread on your forum.

Ha! I couldn't remember if I already knew that or I just thought I did when I saw the picture in The Triangle. I guess I did already know it!

Well you don't have to worry cuz I remember everything except the fact that I already sent a Christmas card to a friend from residency and sent her another. Too bad I ran out of dang cards cuz I didn't send one to Az Theta, AZ Alpha Xi or thetygerlily this year. That's it...I'm off the Christmas list!

I may have a few words to add after Christmas, but I have to tell y'all this:
As many of you know, I got married on December 10th, in Chicago. With all of the pins I own, guess who forgot to pack hers? Yep. There was so much excitement with my DH's mother in the hospital, my florist's mother passing away (without a partner to pick up the slack!), and learning that several invitations were lost in the mail that frantic, I emailed the sisters I invited and asked if I could borrow one of their pins.
Both GC's polarpi and ASUADPi responded with their own pins, one with aquamarine points and the other with the full out turquoise! I pinned them both to my bouquet as both my something borrowed and something blue! Now, is that sisterhood or what?

*love* Congrats, honeychile! And kudos to polarpi and ASUADPi! (Might there be a picture in the future? There can never be too many pictures of badges, after all… I've been meaning to heed that particular statement myself, actually.)

The photographer took quite a few pictures of her bouquet with the pins. She took a couple with us ADPi's in the shot and then she took the pins and the rings and took some shots of them. I'm sure when Honeychile gets the pictures back she'll post some. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge sister )

What a beautiful story and something you'll remember from your wedding forever! That's much better than having your own pin collection with you, I must say. I love that you had GC ADPis at your wedding. Best wishes, honeychile, for a long and happy marriage!

Honey...best wishes to you and I cannot wait to see the photos of the bouquet with the pins on it. Borrowed, blue, and sisterhood; can't top that connection!
(I wondered where you'd been, forgot about the wedding! doh!)

This auction just ended for this Alpha Xi Delta quill:
Sold for $1,256!!!
I'd really love to know the history of this. As far as I know, Alpha Xi has never made a quill with 3 large gems in the center and lined with smaller ones up the side, so it seems like this is very custom. Plus, there's no date, which makes it even more interesting. Oh and not to mention the OPALS!

^^^HOLY FREAKING COW!!!
That badge is beautiful. I really love the delicate engraving on the feather of the quill.
Do you have a picture of the back? I'd be willing to bet someone could approximate a date with that.
