Whistle Sheet with Letters and Badges
lleduc –
I check the badge thread because I enjoy bling and history, like putting chocolate and peanut butter together. Thanks for sharing the whistle list from an ADPi (aka ADPhi) history book. The history must have been published after 1907 as credit was given to Jewel Davis for writing the 11 note whistle in that year. Since the reason for a whistle was to call to a sister or brother (predates cell phones you know) out on campus, the sound could hardly be kept secret. I see that two of the groups had a challenge and an answer whistle. Our great-grand parents must have had some fun using their whistles.
Of course I wish my group was on the chart. I think the DZ whistle was used by the founders in 1902. But in 1907 Delta Zetas were Phi Taus (thanks for sharing that badge picture, lleduc) and would not be a “national” back under the Delta Zeta name until 1908 after Alpha was re-established and when Beta chapter was chartered.
The line of music for the ADPi whistle even shows 2/4 time, measures, quarter and eighth notes. Our history just describes the rhythmic timing of the 4 notes to our whistle.
From the 1982 history:
Cannot get the photobucket picture to show, an ordinary whistle must have been more fun than technology that doesn't work for me.

I saved some pretty for a rainy day.
Zeta Tau Alpha emerald and diamond badge:
Alpha Tau Omega opals:
Early Chi Phi badge (I believe a poster nabbed this one):
Phi Mu diamonds (maybe CZ):
Pi Phi opals AND crest guard (swoon):
Phi Mu CZs and rose quartz, I believe:
An interesting Sigma pin, not sure of its origins or purpose:

Yes, the Pi Phi pin is beautiful (it has fire opals, the kind with lots of color and not mainly milky white). I think that it is older because of the style of the engraving on the point. The newer pins have a different type of engraving.
I also like the two Phi Mu pins, especially the one with the clear stones because it seems older. But the pin with the pink stones is really nice, too. I like the variety shown here- lots of bling.

I'm fairly certain I posted that page of whistles almost a year ago. Maybe I have Half-timers...

Sheet Music with Badges..
Something a little new for you all..

I picked this up a while back.. Note the DPhiE is missing the scroll at the bottom (it was added in the 1940's), so this piece of music is likely 1930's..

This is a wonderful picture. Does anyone know which group's pledge pin is pictured to the right of the couples' hands?

Any ASAs here happen to know what a AC 916 on the back of a badge could possibly mean? There is a badge I am considering saving from that website and I was just curious...

No idea. I haven't got a piano or any friends who play to get them to figure it out.. but my daughter is scheduled to start piano lessons (as soon as I can cram another piece of furniture into our house) so I'll figure it out soon enough.

It makes me sad that someone is selling this pin. It's so gorgeous!! I'll be watching the price as the auction progresses... a very tempting buy.

This isn't a new badge, I've posted it before. But, I got a new camera and am trying to get a better pic of it. This is the best one so far, although I am really just learning the camera and expect to do better.
1923, white gold, graduated pearls.
