a few things..
the SK with the pie-crust edge is from the 1910's.. clasp, stamp, edge, and enamel color all scream "old"!
the DDD pin alluded to is earlier..i would say 1900 to 1910 or so 'cause of the t-top pin. could be late 1890's, though that age would likely have a different catch.
Oh, and there was someone else who had mentioned how odd it is to have her (earlier) initiation date engraved on a new badge.. people have been ordering new badges and back-dating 'em for 100+ years! I have a theta badge which is DEFINITELY from the 1920s, but was engraved with an initiation date over 20+ years earlier. (can't remember exactly, but for sure 1890's!). I picked it up for a super cheap price and one of my friends emailed me and said "I can't believe you got that badge for so cheap!" and I had to tell her that it was 'cause of the mis-match in age vs. engraving..

It is certainly possible. I believe that through the years, we have had special badges made for certain members (executive board members, field consultants, chapter presidents, etc) that were modeled after early badge styles.

If there is any possibility that the badge is NOT as old as you are advertising, you might reconsider your listing description. Quite recently another seller was outed for selling altered/retrofitted badges. A fraudulent seller allegation or charge isn't something I'd want to have to handle. "Caveat Emptor" only goes so far...
I question the age of the badge simply because there was no engraving, but I'm not an expert by any means in this department. kaokite knows WAY more than I do! If DDD HQ is saying it's a recent badge, and DDDlady is sharing about replicas, my money's on them.
As for dating badges: I am waiting on a custom badge (will it EVER arrive?) engraved with a date from this year, along with the initials of the chapter I advise, and my initials. There's no connecting that to any initiation records! The significance is for me alone, and when I pass, I hope it'll be a mystery that will continue to baffle future generations.

DDD HQ is wrong. the clasp & the t-top are not correct for the vintage they're quoting. there also appears to be a shadow of an old AULD stamp around the clasp. if there is a stamp, then they are definitively incorrect.

Ah! the mystery continues thanks, kaokite. It'd be interesting to take a real close look at that, wouldn't it?

Arrival of New Badge
Thanks to HJ for a super fast fix of their botch job. I was amazed to see FedEX show up late this morning with my fixed badge!
Here it is in all its beauty:
Then I put it next to the other scroll with points badge. I was amazed at how different they are. The scroll work is different, though I don't feel that my new badge is of poor quality. The stones are either smaller or just set deeper into the new badge.
I thought the differences were most noticeable on the badge backs (and thought that AZTheta might enjoy the backs even though they're not old and exciting.) I thought it was interesting that the clasps haven't changed at all that I see between the yellow gold (1969) and the silver (2011)
Then I was just being amused at taking pictures, but was drawn to how different the shadows are in this last picture. It also shows how different the enamels are.
Okay. I've taken up enough space. I am willing to bet that others have been getting badges lately.... Let's see some pictures that aren't mine, please!

It's beautiful! I love the amethyst with the deep maroon enamel. The cut out of the scroll work is much nicer on the new badge, which you can see on the photo of the back of the badges. I think the differences you see on the front have more to do with the shiny finish of the new badge. So glad you have your new badge. Poor AzTheta has been suffering waiting on hers.

yeah, and looking at that gorgeous Sigma Kappa badge isn't helping. I +1 on everything you wrote about it.
The badge was shipped last Friday. I was *trying* to keep it a "secret" and then do a big unveiling on BT. sigh. AZ-Alpha Xi and I were going to post our new acquisitions together, and hers now has cobwebs.

I think I'm lucky that geographically I'm fairly close to the RI location they seem to ship from a lot. Especially after there was an issue, I sent in the botched badge Monday evening and talked to a supervisor on the phone that day. I was told not to expect the fixed badge until Mid-September. I got lucky.
I'm excitedly waiting to see your new one. You should give a call over to check on your badge status.... I have the direct line to supervisor I dealt with if you want it.
ETA: I just saw you said it was shipped last Friday... Goodness.... Do you live in Antarctica or something? They haven't even listed mine as having being shipped yet and I already have it. Sending happy vibes it gets there today.... Can you track it? is it getting closer to you?

You didn't ruin it, trust me. I think many people knew I'd ordered a new badge, just not the details.
I live in Arizona, same difference. Might as well be Antarctica. Temperature extremes. Remote. Mail's coming by pony express still.
J Lewis Small badges are gorgeous, however the waiting is not fun.

Oh, SigmaGirl2000.... It's gorgeous. I've got to contact HQ and get one...
Love, love, love it.
My chapter - Epsilon Epsilon - is celebrating our 50th Anniversary in a few years, and I'll definitely get it before then to wear for our celebration - because I'll be celebrating my 20th around the same time...
Thanks for sharing - it's stunning.

Did thetygerlily, AOIIAngel, and AZ-Alpha Xi put you up to that comment?
Get this: I was told this past Friday that it was showing as "supposed to have been shipped this week" but it wasn't, and the person responsible had left for the day.
This morning I'm told that the badge isn't finished, the jeweler was waiting on more _____ (I ain't saying b/c I want it to be a surprise) to be able to finish the badge.
All I can say is the _____ better match because the stories I'm getting don't.
first it was "vacation for two weeks", then it was "it was shipped" then it was "it was supposed to be shipped" and this morning it's "it's not finished yet."

Went to lunch with AZ-AlphaXi and pouted for about half the time I was with her. I wanted to wear my new badge to chapter tonight. Consider yourself fortunate that you weren't sitting with us. I was not good company. I wanted to go outside and smash black widow spiders or something.
