That was all of the NPC badges from that post. The rest were fraternity badges.

LAME (not on your part-on the part of that page). Oh well-keep posting, if you don't mind! I am looking at possibly bidding on a badge that was brought to my attention (thanks to another Nittany Lion). It is pretty old. My birthday is coming up-so, I can only hope!

Here's my badge from the Computer Science Honors Fraternity, Upsilon Pi Epsilon:

Yep, that's binary on the badge - it says 1967, which I think is when it was founded. It's not real gold, just gold colored.
Annnd here's my new Kappa badge!
That's the best photo I could get. Herff Jones attached the chapter guard for me. As far as I can tell, there is no differences in construction from the new badge and the one I bought two years ago for initiation. Both the badge and the guard are 10K gold. I really like having the two blues on the badge!

Pretty, pretty! The computer science badge is interesting. More masculine looking for sure. I like all the 1s and 0s.

momof4girls - you're project is insane, but I'm thankful for it, all the more power to you! Except you've made me feel guilty about my abandoned project of categorizing NIC badges by shape for comparison...
How did I miss that opal SigEp badge? It's fantastic!
sky&sea - your new badge is beautiful! I like how you have one with enamel and one without. Even though the old Kappa badges were incredible, I think the modern variation is the most gracefully shaped.

*wonders why said fraternity does not have a chapter at MIT*

I just wanted to say that it makes my day every time I see that this thread has a new post!
Even with four years of living in Columbus, I never knew KKG's headquarters was there! I wish I had, it looks like a beautiful house and neat collection.

All I can think of is that guy who was buying every Pi Phi badge on eBay for awhile. No one had money like he did and several unusually jeweled badges went to him. He claimed that his wife is a Pi Phi. I don't know if y'all have been discussing him but I have no idea how to search for it!

Those KKG badges a few pages back are AMAZING! The diamond one with the diamond-studded version of your new member pin is eyewateringly, jaw-droppingly stunning.
Re: plain TriSigma badges, they are an older style. I don't know the date range during which they were produced, but it hasn't been for awhile (as far as I'm aware)... Are they coming back?

Obviously this is a blind stab, but maybe the unjeweled Sigma badge is from one of the World Wars or the Depression. It would have been likely for such stipulations to be loosened during a time when resources were scarce.

That's entirely likely. The one I know of for sale is from 1938 - so that fits with a war-austerity theory.

Wouldn't it be something to get a chronicle of all the badge options, when changes happened (in the dies, stones, metal, even design), what prompted the changes... that would be so fun. I'm sure we would see many patterns in there from times of war, recession, and plenty. In my own keys, I can see a change in the color of the gold around WWII- which I find incredibly fascinating.
Carnation- we haven't discussed him here, I don't think- we haven't gotten much into specifics on collectors. But he still does, and he has an affinity for Kappa keys too. Claims his mom or grandma is a Kappa- and of course his will states that all badges in his collection will go to HQ. Not holding my breathe on that one but it sure would be nice...
And I agree that we could use more Pi Phi badges here. The variety is absolutely gorgeous, with all the different stone options and the intricacies of the arrowhead... I probably did a montage of them at some point, but it would've been a long time ago.

Please forgive me for how long it's taken me to respond to the spendid array of badges that have been posted! I think my jaw is sufficiently off of the ground to comment on a few!
sky&sea, your new pin is gorgeous! I can only imagine what it would look like in person - you've done a very good thing! Just think of how many Kappas will see that option and think, "hmmmm....!" now! (And personally, I like the Key better without the enamel.)
The black & white photos are wonderful! Just think of all of the history behind each one of those badges! Greek life might not be the largest in the country, but the country's history could certainly be told through Greek life - starting with 1776 and Phi Beta Kappa. I get historical shivers just thinking about it! I have an old ADPi Pledge Book (get them now, ADPis - they will no longer be available as of this year!) which has all of the NPC sorority pins. That would include the ones from the 1940s & 1950s which merged with another sorority or simply became defunct. I have got to get my tech friends over here!
I agree with the austerity idea, although it may have been an option as opposed to de rigeur, since none like it has shown up before. I know that my own chapter closed completely during WWII, as each sister became involved in some facet of the war (military, engineering, etc). What a find!
I admit that I have stooped to posting my favorite ADPi pin with the hopes that a certain VTech freshman will remember that it could become hers - but that choosing a sorority because of the pin is possibly one of the worst reasons to do so. Cross fingers it works!

That badge is stunning! She will be one lucky freshman should it become her's.
