Awesome to see all the amazing houses out there. It's hard to image coming from a small university and a chapter house that slept 14!

New Gamma Phi Beta house at Grand Valley State University, where a new Greek Village is being built. Also building new houses that will be ready for Phase I move-in this fall are: Sigma Kappa, Alpha Sigma Tau, Phi Sigma Sigma, Alpha Omicron Pi and fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi. Phase II is planned for next fall, with four more houses and a community center building.

Rendering of the Alpha Phi house at Georgia Tech. I believe they are supposed to break ground sometime in June. I think it will end up looking very similar to Kappa Sigma, which was recently completed, by the same architects

I'm amused by "The Pit" bar area in the Kappa Sigma house...no attempt to disguise what will be happening there. It appears "Den of Iniquity" could have been another option for labeling that section of the floor plan.

It's apparently something that came from their old house. There's supposedly some kind of history behind it.

No doubt. The only part that troubled me was the two-story aspect...if I were their risk management advisor, I wouldn't want the bar to have a balcony for people to fall over! At a minimum, I'd make the railing on the mezzanine a lot higher than the code requires. Maybe even all the way to the ceiling.

See, that's what I don't understand about some house designs. There have been several houses I've seen that have balconies, sometimes even 3 floors worth of balconies. I don't understand how it's not a risk management hazard. Especially in the case of fraternities, but also in the case of sorority houses, because while they look nice, what's to say some drunk person won't do something stupid and fall off of the 3rd floor balcony?

One big difference between sororities and fraternities - NPC sororities cannot have alcohol on their properties.

True, but that doesn't mean that:

1) Those rules are always abided by (in someone's private room anyway) and

2) A drunk girl could come home and fall off the balcony.

Just attempting to say that no alcohol on property =/= no drunks on property
