Bumping this up--it has some good ideas on what not to say in a recruitment thread!

My only advice is to make sure you're not posting anything you'd be ashamed of (or wouldn't tell the sororities during recruitment) on GC. I know this sounds silly, but when I found someone from my school (a member of a sorority, when I was a pnm) on here, I looked up all her old posts to try and figure out if I knew her. So I'm sure other people do that too. Also, right after I pledged DZ one of the sisters mentioned that she had read my posts on GC. I was in the awkward position of trying to figure out if I'd said anything remotely negative or inappropriate on here.
Though nothing bad happened after my being "found out", I can imagine that if you post something negative about specific sororities during the summer, it could hurt you come recruitment (even if you don't mention specific names)
This should also be noted for active members too. People will look you up on GC- whether you're a PNM, NM, Active, Alum or Independant - makes sure you never say anything you wouldn't want them to read!

Be aware that people on GC talk to each other and people away from GC. Something you say in a PM or in a thread about a group can cause other groups to refuse you a bid... if I'm any clearer on that I'd have to give examples, and that would be inappropriate here.
