Not a pic, but thought it was a cool find. This is the USC chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma reading their bid list...it's cool how excited they get. They obviously had fun during rush.

I LOVE this! Thanks for posting! There's nothing like that bid day excitement when all your hard work finally pays off!
On a related note... my chapter was always told that it was a national KKG policy that no one but the Membership chair knew who accepted their bids until the girls literally walked through the door on bid night. I guess this isn't so? I would have loved to know the bid list beforehand - you hear about these PNMs all week and in the craziness of bid day it can be hard to figure out if your favorites are there or not. Plus, I always wanted to have sisters holding those fun 'Welcome [Name]!' signs but obviously we couldn't if we weren't allowed to know who was coming. I think it may have been something our advisors told us not to do in case a girl accepted but changed her mind and didn't show...? *Shrug.*

I don't understand this. Our panhellenic tells us we're not suppose to know but the other two chapters at my school always have stuff with their PNMs name's on it. I wish we knew before hand

Chapters on our campus get the list at 4:00, and Bid Day is at 4:30, so everyone know who they got...Recruitment Counselors sometimes see it slightly before 4:00, depending on how well they sweet talk the Greek Adviser.

I'm pretty sure it's not a fraternity policy. Probably some Membership Chair and her advisor at your chapter thought it would be best if only they saw the bid list for whatever reason way back when and over the years it's developed into "national policy" (funny how so many things do that!)

At Ole Miss the chapters usually get their "lists" about an hour before or 30 minutes before the PNMs run to their houses. We have always read the names out before so everyone knows! That way we can assign an AOII to a new member! Plus the NM Committee has to write the new members' names on their panda posters!

We get our lists about 30 minutes before Bid Day starts -- which is about 30 minutes after the NMs get theirs (bids are individually delivered by Rho Gams, and there's about an hour for the New Members to get ready before activities begins). Therefore, PNMs have already gotten the chance to decline and snap bids have been given out when we get our lists. We send out "Beta Buddies" to escort each individual new member in, and we all come into the house as a group while the rest of the chater sings/chants from the balcony.
The other houses on campus do the same thing, and I always liked that everyone cheers for the other groups' new pledgeclasses as they go by.

Our PNMs sit on the steps of the admissions building and we're all across the lawn cheering. They're given they're envelopes, but they have to sit on them until the Recruitment Counselors have gone back, then they open them and run! All the drops/COB/snap bidding is done either the night before or early the next morning, so everyone there has a bid if they're on the steps. And of course we all know who we're getting even if they don't, so the cheering gets pretty loud from the excitement.

Our advisors always got the lists, but didn't tell us who was on it. Bid Night was always a surprise.
