It's common to change their minds and get a different dress in Cali??? How odd!

The people I'd really fear for would be her bridesmaids. If she picks that for herself, can you imagine what she'd put them in???

Apparently my dad liked this one also. JSYK it's an afternoon/early evening wedding but I'm still unsure how formal I want things to be. I'm thinking knee-length strapless dresses for the bridesmaids (brown duchess satin with a blush pink sash around the waist) and brown satin flats. But I don't think that dress would go as well with the dress with the brooch, better with the first one I think. I found a version of that dress in brown but my mom felt it would look to "matchy matchy." I'm hearing from most people that they like both so I'll most likely try both on this Saturday and hopefully some others just to be sure. I'm leaning towards that first one though, I can just see it French-bustled with the veil in the back with my hair pulled up... I'm just excited to try them on again! And what a relief it will be to have the dress ordered! I feel a little bad though that my FMIL wasn't there to help shop but I don't want to go shopping up in ATL with her and waste time looking at dresses if I think I've found the one here. I'm trying to involve her as much as I can (I e-mailed her photos of the dresses and she likes the two we've been talking about, poor #2 isn't getting much love) but I still wanted to go shopping with her. She's coming down for Masters though so maybe shopping for something else...? Favors? Bridal party gifts? I mean, J's parents are chipping in about half of our budget so I really want to keep her involved, not to mention she has great style and I value her opinions as my FMIL.

Sthrn, you are so thoughtful to keep your FMIL "in the know." Some people I know would take the money and run. She is really lucky to have you marrying her son. Kudos to you!

SthrnZeta,
When you try both dresses on again, don't just stand up tall and look at yourself. Dance in each dress, pick up something from the ground, walk around, sit... You will be wearing this dress for HOURS, be sure you're comfortable in it! I think I like the second one best, because I think you look gorgeous in both but that you'll be able to move about freely, sit and stand, and feel more relaxed in the second. But, check them out thoroughly that way. Can you lean over without the world looking down your bodice? (and not because of sizing, but because of style) REALLY try them on.
ETA: Try to think about how you will use the ladies room with each dress too.
