Sorority Sisters..the novel

Has anyone read this novel by Tajuana Butler. Its was an okay book. She is an AKA.

It was very realistic, and very funny.

Smile My review

I read the book and I don't think it was all that great. I guess it was more about the women from different backgrounds coming together for the sisterhood but something about it just didn't sit right with me. Not bad for a first try. I read her second book, hand me down heartache, and I felt that one was a lot better.

I liked this book. It was a cute book and an easy read. Just a pleasant story about five women. If it had been heavier, I probably wouldn't have liked it as much.

The book was o.k., it was a easy read. However I read a book dealing with sororities by Breggie James called Sister Secrets or something and her novel was great. I literally felt exhausted after reading it. I get all into my novels!!

Sister Secrets by Breggie James was great. You should also read the sequel: "Beyond Our Mother's Footsteps." They have a lot more to them than Sorority Sisters, though SS was a quick, fun read.

I loved Sorority Sisters. It kind of gave me a little insight on what it was like to be a Greek, even though I ask questions, and I am told that I would soon find out. Actually I have read this book twice. I have been opting to purchase Sister Secrets and the Diving Nine.

I love my A. A. Novels.

The author went to school with a good friend of mines, and a lot of the stuff that happened in that book was the truth. Quite interesting.

As a outsider that is interested in joining a sorority, I enjoied the book. I also like the way she didn't really say any org's name but she kinda told us with all those colors and all.

The book was okay, but I remember expecting more after I was done. It touched on the surface of many issues but didn't delve into any of them.

I heard Mr. Butler has a second novel out. I don't think it was widely publicized, but she also published a book of poetry. I purchased it at a reading a few years ago. I can't think of the name of it right now, but I'll post it when I remember.

Do you mean Divine Nine b/c I haven't heard of Diving Nine, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, Sorority Sisters was ok. I didn't really know what to expect once I picked it up, but it's hard for me to put down. I was on a line of 5 with different backgrounds, so I appreciated it's look at differences among line sisters, maybe that should have been the name...Line Sister! People think lines instantly bond, but it is an adjustment and learning to love both strength and weaknesses of each other in order to be strong! And this of course carries over to the chapter.
Are there other books I should check out?

That's one of the reasons I like the book. It leaves the rest to your imagination.

It would be interesting if she wrote a follow up say maybe a year later or when the girls become prophytes?

At the beginning of her new book, there's a chapter that takes place at Don and Chauncey's wedding (you remember that they were going to get married at the end of the last book) All of the girls are there and I believe she tells a little about what each one is doing in their lives.
