Carmello Anthony: We will win the Gold
Now, I'll admit, I haven't seen the rest of the competition, but I can't believe people doubt that this team won't at least win A medal in Athens.
Who cares if we don't have the majority of first choices? This is a young, dedicated team that WANTS to go there and represent their country. Hell, even IVERSON is committed to this.
I'm not saying they're going to run away with the gold; the this team HAS only been together for a few weeks as opposed to the other national teams who've spent years together, but give me a break.
I'd rather have this team then the first choices who, if had gone, would have done it against their will (basically).

Who knows? Like you said, these other guys have been playing together for years. I think the Pistons v. Lakers proves you can't win it all on talent alone.
It all depends on how these guys work together as team players. The rest of the world has really been catching up talentwise.

I guess it's up to Larry Brown to motivate them in that direction, right?

They'd best be functioning as a team or they'll get their asses handed to 'em by one of these European teams.

It will be interesting to watch this team. If Larry Brown can have them playing the type of defense that Detroit used during their Championship Run, I can see them going for either the Gold or Silver Medal.

Probably as follows:
C - Tim Duncan
F - Amare Stoudamire
F - Carmelo Anthony
G - Allen Iverson
G - Stephon Marbury
I'm not completely sure, but looking at the roster that looks like the most likely starting 5.

Iverson and Marbury might be the most dangerous duo on the court. they can put up points in a hurry.

Hopefully they'll play better than they did against Italy today... a disapointing showing to say the least.

Whatever puts points on the board. You can't fault them for that.

Hey, if it worked, they should have kept doing it. I would think the US (especially with quick guards) could defend that.
Just an awful showing by the US team.
