How Are Chapters / Pledge Classes Number After 24

I know my Greek Alphabet, but how do you number your chapter or bid class? I get that the first class/chapter is Alpha, 2 is Beta, 22 is Chi, 23 is Psi, 24 is Omega, etc. But what happens after 24? I've heard too many different variations. I thought it then starts with Alpha Alpha, Alpha Beta, Alpha Gamma, etc. But I've also heard it going doubles (Alpha Alpha is 25, Beta Beta is 26, etc.) I tried to search for this but I wasn't sure how to word it on here and Google.

The only thing that should matter to you is how YOUR organization does it. There's no standard.

Different groups do it different ways. We simply refer to Fall 1999 or spring 2010 pledge class. Chapters go straight thru (with a couple of exceptions due to the founding chapter and some other early ones) and then double up alphabetically...Alpha Alpha, Alpha Beta, etc.

I have seen both AA, AB and even BA used to number chapters or pledge classes. My own chapter went to AA after Omega. At the chapter level, we have no standard since Psi U does not use the standard Greek Alphabet to number the chapters.

Yeah, it's up to the chapter.

For example, in mines, we have a weird convention where the second class is actually alpha. We often say we started counting the classes at 0. The founding class was retroactively named digamma since it's an archaic Greek letter and looks like an F.

Interesting since it was the sixth letter in the alphabet.

The F stands for founders.

Full disclosure: I'm actually part of the digamma class and voted on it. It came from a snafu where we didn't see ourselves as a pledge class and therefore called the subsequent class alpha until it was too late to correct.
