Question for Sorors and Friends
Good Morning.
I have a question about locating highschool records for students that were home-schooled. If you have any insight about this process, please p.m. so I can give you more specifics.
Thanks in advance.

In Kansas, homeschool students who want to receive a valid state accredited high school diploma must submit their documentation/records to the Kansas State Department of Education. So you could try contacting either the student's local state department of education for either the records or for the name of the parent who taught the student.
I only know this because one of my good friends were home schooled and she wanted a state accredited high school diploma (meaning that she met the same requirements as any other student taught by the state) as opposed to a more generic one that would have been issued by her dad (meaning that she just learned what he felt was a good curriculm).

Thanks that's helpful.
If anyone can offer more specified advice, I could still use it.

I agree with HK74. Start with the state department of education, then go to the local school system for that information.
hope that helps.

No problem Little32. Unfortunately the procedures for home schooling aren't universal, so the laws and record keeping requirements for diplomas (and what is considered a valid, accreditted high school diploma) do vary by state.
