Triangle is back at the University of Kentucky

Welcome back!

On April 17, 2004, Triangle Alumni House Corporation at the University of Kentucky held their Founder's Day banquet and initiated the men of the new Triangle colony at the University of Kentucky.

The Triangle Chapter at Kentucky was the fifth chapter for the Fraternity, founded on October 31, 1920. From their founding until the early 1980's, over 600 men joined Triangle at UK.

With the help of the alumni board and the College of Engineering, 15 men at the University became a colony of Triangle at the National Convention this past summer. Members of the alumni board and the newest Triangle members gathered a few weeks ago at Homecoming (see picture below.)

The story about how we returned to UK is an interesting one and we will share the brief version.

UK has a very successful SWE (Society of Women Engineers) Chapter. Dr. Tom Lester (Dean of the College Engineering) and Dr. Bruce Walcott (associate dean) decided that they needed a male equivalent within the College. Both men happened to do their undergraduate work at Purdue and recall having friends who were Triangle members who they would study with at the Fraternity house. They agreed that they needed Triangle back at UK, so the conversations began between the COE, the alumni board, and the Fraternity headquarters. The rest is history. . . Today, the three groups stand in support of our young men at UK as they grow and prosper on their road to chapter status.

I recognize one of the guys!!!

His Mom told me two years ago when he was a freshmen that he and a few guys and some of their professors were interested in starting an engineering frat.

I'm so glad that it has worked out !!!!
