Hi there- We are new to Ole Miss, my daughter will be a freshman from out of state...
we are working on recs etc now. Is it best to submit the rec packets before the recruitment chairman is out of school for the summer? Thanks for your help and any advice is welcomed and appreciated!

From only the perspective of my own Chapter, we appreciate getting the information as early as possible because there are such a large number of PNM's in recruitment each Fall. Thankfully advancements in electronic submission of recs is beginning to make things much easier. All of the PNM lists are electronic now, and paper recs have to be input into the computer one by one. Also most, if not all, of the Chapters at Ole Miss have already begun Recruitment Workshops at this time. It's Spring Practice like for Football So yes, I would work on having those recs come on in to the Chapters.

You should ask your writers to send them in at their earliest convenience or now. There are only about 5-6 weeks of the Spring Semester left. If you want to provide a pre-stamped pre-addressed envelope to the your writers, please do so.

The 2013 Egg Bowl, the traditional Ole Miss v. Mississippi State game, has been moved to Thanksgiving Day, for the first time since 2003. Game Day: Thursday, Nov. 28, the game will be televised on ESPN with a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff. ***Other posts involving football schedule have been updated. The location is still Starkville, Mississippi.

I have nothing to add about Ole Miss Recruitment, but surprised that you aren't going with navy against Texas, especially given that it is in Austin. Very odd.

It looks like they wanted to have six chances for each color and wanted to be 100% SURE that everyone had their blue dresses clean for the game against BAMA.

Part of it is we just got brand spanking new uniforms from the Nike NFL Uniform Line. Our Rebels will be styling and profiling. And our Athletic Department wants the fans to have an opportunity to match.

Yes, we know.
In stadium shots red and burnt orange will blend somewhat, whereas navy would definitely stand out as "we are Ole Miss fans."
When Texas and OU play, you can see the difference, but that is helped by the fact that it is a 50 yard line split and that OU is more crimson than red. When fans are intermingled, it just seemed surprising to pick a color that is within a few shades of the home team when a completely contrasting color was available.

I think the burnt orange doesn't even come close to red. To me it is a stark difference - tons of brown in the orange and the Ole Miss red is more of a true red.
