This article was in their student newspaper in February:

Pi Kappa Alpha has been invited to colonize at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Also, as announced last year, Alpha Xi Delta will be returning to the University of Maryland this fall.

From what I know, no specific sorority/fraternity is in it now - the rooms are rented out to students (or maybe non-students too, I'm not sure). But the property is right smack in the middle of Greek Row - you can't ask for a better location.

While I'm at it - here is a link to an article the UW Daily wrote about the selected organizations coming to campus.

I agree - I had the same thought when I found out about it. I went back to look at the announcement I received in December about the colonization. This is an excerpt of what it said:

Quote:
St. Joseph’s College has two campuses—Brooklyn and Long Island. When installed, two separate collegiate chapters of Alpha Gamma Delta will be added to our chapter roll. Both campuses have an energetic, dedicated group of local women who are interested in assimilating into an international organization. Specifically, the Long Island campus has grown from a group of 15 to 85 interested women in a matter of six months. The Brooklyn campus has nearly 40 interested women. When installed, Alpha Gamma Delta will be the only National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) group on each campus.

“Alpha Gamma Delta has a unique opportunity to connect these groups of dedicated, values-based women to the leadership and personal development experience of our international sisterhood,” said Liz Harriss York, International Vice President-Extension. “We have been talking with women from each interest group and have been impressed with their drive and passion for the values and high expectations that our Founders set forth for our Fraternity.”

Exactly - it is quite unique. I didn't think I really needed to explain why I found it interesting, as the situation made that pretty obvious.

I thought the same thing when I heard about these schools. It's certainly not your average colonization.

Congrats to our newly installed chapters!

It looks like most NPC groups were closed/banned in 1934. I don't know anything about Swarthmore College and Greek life but I bet a lot of these NPC's would love to have their chapters back. Interesting that we are presenting as well, good luck to all groups that will be making presentations!

From looking at the student activities website, Delta Upsilon has a chapter there and there is one local fraternity, Phi Psi.
