Two Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Brothers Get Married

Two Fraternity brothers apparently got married this month. They belong to a popular black fraternity called Kappa Alpha Psi. I think these guys broke a barrier with this. What do you guys think??

I can't remember if it was on-line or in the letters to the editor section, Sigma Chi asked for stories of how alumns met their wives/significant others. One member wrote that he and his partner met when they both pledged.

Congratulations to the two Kappas. This situation is probably one that society will see more and more of.

I may have misread this article, but it only confirms that one of the men is a Kappa; it is unclear about the other one. Either way congratulations to them! Too bad they don't live in a state where they can be legally married.

That's awesome - kudos to Sigma Chi for printing that story!

Kentucky?

The article said this took place in Kentucky. Kentucky has Marriage being defined as one man and one women in the state Constitution (2004 Amendment 1). There frankly aren't many states in the Union where state law is *less* accepting of same-sex marriage than Kentucky.

I wish them luck, but Kentucky isn't even a state that I'd want to try to use as a test case on marriage equality. Kentucky *may* allow marriage equality before Utah, but I'm not betting either way.

Unless I missed it in the article I don't think they're trying to make a case for marriage. They just want to formalize their love and commitment to each other like any other couple. I don't mind a couple someone married before the law behind it.

I've noticed the trend of calling them commitment ceremonies has gone out of style - thank goodness!
