where to send recommendations
i have viewed several college panhellenic websites where it was suggested that recommendations be sent to the college panhellenic office. what do you think?
does anyone have any experience sending recs. to the panhellenic office? i could foresee lots of problems/accusations cropping up.

Ole Miss' panhellenic office tells the PNMs to mail them to each chapter individually. They put all of the chapters addresses on the site and in the packet. They will not accept recs through their office.

For some schools, I have sent recs to the office of Greek Life, but to the attention of the sorority, as some of the chapters have their mail sent to a box in the Greek Life office... but I've always gotten a follow up thank you note to acknowledge receipt of my recs from the chapter.
I usually verify the mailing address with the ADPi website, just to be sure. I agree, our recommendations are the business of our sorority only and should go directly to the sorority, whether via a house address, PO Box or address that marks it to the attention of the sorority within a student activities office.

Not everyone has a house (or if they do, it might not be on campus so the school can't give an address) to send them to.
If they're sent to ASA c/o College Panhellenic Office, that should be OK, shouldn't it? I'm guessing that's what they mean, not just sending recs to the Panhel office and letting them open and distribute them.

ya got me. the sites just said,"send recommendations to the panhellenic office. they did not mention any "in care of", but that is a good solution.
i know that in the summer edition of our national magazine, zta lists each state that has zta chapters, the chapter name, the school, the general time that recruitment is held there(early fall, mid fall, winter, etc.) the advisors name and either the chapter address or the advisor's address. that info is also listed on our sister site on the national website. i would feel more comfortable sending recs. directly to the chapter or their advisor.

In the Alpha Gam Quarterly published right before Fall Recruitment, there usually is a listing of addresses of where sisters may send their recommendation forms. I can't remember if it was published last year, but I know it was in 2004.
Still, appropriate chapter address info is posted online in our sisters-only section.

Our Panhellenic Recruitment book lists the Greek Affairs address for PNMs to have alums send recs to. However, we prefer that they come right to us.
