storming the halls
I've seen "storming the halls" or going into the dorms to recruit women posted in a few places but my school doesn't allow it. They consider any one who comes into a places of residence to sell their idea or organization a solicitor - and solicitation is not allowed on campus property. The only place we're allowed to advertise ourselves is the student union. Is any other school like this?
I think a lot of schools have disallowed things like this, partly because of an anti-Greek bias and partly because security in the dorms is a lot tighter than it used to be. A lot of places you need key cards to even step into the dorm.

Houses on our campus do this. It's not exactly "storming" though. Mainly we just wear our letters and help freshman who are moving into the dorms. A group of two or three of us walk around the dorms asking if anyone needs any help or has any questions. We've never had any negative reactions to this. I've met a lot of great people through it actually, hehe. And sure, it's sort of a solicitation, but from my experience, freshman are all so excited, that they're in very friendly spirits. It's a lot of fun.
