I think it's awesome when fraternities or sororities are frequently tied to a community service event or philanthrophy, I know SigEp is very committed to YouthAIDS as our major philan. So make it known that you guys are always there supporting those who need our help!

Besides, it is a nice way to get positive personal PR rather than the usually negative press that is broadcasted across airwaves and plastered across headlines.
My chapter does also for the same reason.

My sorors will be walking, and other sorors will be volunteering in the Kiddie Korner as we have done since before I was a soror. Hey! That was my first community service project when I was officially "expressing my interest" in Sigma! Memories....
Ours was a couple of weeks ago. Most of us volunteered and a few walked. The great thing is every year, the MOD folks dont know what to do because we always have too many sorors show up to help, but they manage to create work for us.

I personally think it is a good idea to wear something to let the public know that members of greek organizations are helping out in the community. At the WalkAmerica event here last month, it was nice to see various organizations represented. It was also an opportunity to network and build relationships with other greeks in the community.
