The mandatory info session should have told you the process. If you are confused, contact the Greek Life office and they will be happy to explain it further.
Fraternity rush is handled differently by individual campuses, so it is hard for anyone on Greekchat to tell you what your rush is like without knowing your campus.
If you don't get a bid, you are not banned forever from Greek Life. You can rush again in the spring or next year. If you don't get a bid, get involved in other campus activities that will allow you to meet other people (including fraternity members). Once you get to know them in a natural setting, it will allow you to ask them questons about rush for next semester.
(What I mean by "natural setting": just become friends naturally, not asking someone upon your first meeting "Are you in a fraternity? Which one? Can I come to your house and party?" Not saying you would do that, but I've seen it happen. After becoming friends, you can ask them about rush.)
Many fraternity parties are for members and guests only. On occassion they will invite non-member male students. If you do get invited, be personable, have fun, but don't act like a drunken fool and hit on the house mother.
Good luck. Let us know how it works out.
