Steam Room

I just got back from the gym, and I started using their steam room again after a while. While were inside, couple questions arose. I'm pretty sure some GreekChat fella have answers of my questions.
How many minutes should we spent on the stream room, effectively? What are the advantages of steam room? Does water increase the heat?

Do you like using steam room?

You get used to it after a few minutes of being in there.

I usually do 5 or 10 in the steam and then the same amount in the sauna....I have severe asthma and whenever I got any sort of lung infection my mom would turn the shower all the way hot then sit me in the bathroom....then follow that w/ 10 min of percussion therapy (read: she whacked me on the back really really hard to clear my lungs). It does wonders for your skin!!!

Yup, I've heard about the skin as well. Maybe since it gives moisture to your skin or something? Also burn some fat out?

Steam rooms/saunas are excellent for people like me with recurrent upper respiratory infections. It helps loosen up all the crap in your lungs and works for sinuses as well. It is much easier for me to breathe in warm air than it is cold air.

They are good for other health reasons also. As the body temperature rises, perspiration occurs and blood circulation increases. The muscles and organs are stimulated and through the perspiration process, acid and waste residue like toxins, sodium, alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol and the potentially carcinogenic heavy metals are removed from the cells (especially zinc, lead, nickel, etc). As well as the pores of our skin opening and discharging waste products , the skin sheds any old skin cells, leaving it glowing and immaculately clean, with improved tone, elasticity, texture and colour.

All of my physicians have recommended them to me over the years. Just don't stay in there too long!! Your body temperature can rise too much and you can pass out!!

I like using the steam room but try to wear flip flops on your feet if you can, don't go barefoot. That warm, moist air can be a haven for bacteria and athlete's foot. Also, try to sit on a towel on the wood benches....keeps the cooties away!

If you are able to get into a steam room focus on your breathing. The whole reason that I go into one is usually because I'm sick. Take long, deep breaths...breathe slowly and it will help you relax!

I also sent you a PM

Talking Wow!

It really works. My sinuses were killing me. Then I went in the bathroom and turn on the shower all the way hot. I feel much better now.
