Cool CandyLand Theme

I'm doing a candyland theme for our formal recruitment. Can anyone help with ideas on how to decorate? I can see it in my head, but when it comes down to how to actually make the props, i dont know where to begin!! Anything will help!

Even if u can recall anything you have seen....

You could make giant lollipops with doll rods from the hardware store and a hula hoop (or something similar) covered with cellophane.

You could use that "spray on snow" to "frost" your windows and mirrors.

I think I remember a Chocolate Lake in the game, so a Chocolate Fountain would be a good idea.

You could use cardboard boxes to build a GingerBread house.

I don't know what your budget is, or where you're located, but this company has the CandyLand cardboard figures.

The AKAs at a local school had a Candy Land themed party and put the pictures on facebook, both of the event and the preparation.

They made the "path" out of the long paper on a roll that you can get. I guess that would be bulletin board paper?

There were lollipops.... somehow they cut that stiff Styrofoam into circles and painted them. I assume they used the doll rods that AF mentioned.

They also used actual candy to make wreaths and whatnot.

I wish I could show you the pics, but I think you'd have to be in her network to view them.

Gamma Phi did that theme when I went through FR as a PNM and they used the dowl rods and big wooden circles to make huge lollipops - they painted them with glitter spray paint and then used that clear celophane they use for gift baskets to cover them. Spray snow of course, and cotton batting. Lots and lots of color. I think they even made the plastic player pieces out of carboard and made it look like they were walking through the lollipops. The tables were littered with glitter confetti and candy and they had bright pink punch. I believe they used this theme for their philanthropy day so we also did a craft (don't remember what it was now).

We did a Candyland theme for a party in 2005, I believe. I don't remember much except that we used construction paper to make a wavy "pathway" of different colored spaces going around wall of the main room.

AEPhi at my school does Willy Wonka and they tape hundreds of fun-size candies (ones with colorful wrappers) to the wall in varying patterns. It must be very time-consuming but it looks really cool!
