GPA Problems? No Chance?
Hey guys so long story short, transferred into this school 2 years ago and now it is my junior year and recently decided to rush and try to join a fraternity. I just went to the recruitment social gathering and got information about meeting the brothers and various other activities. However, I've had a rough time academically since coming to this new college and the past three semesters (fall 2011, spring 2012, fall 2012), my GPA reflects it and I have just above a 2.0 GPA sadly. I had a 3.4 transferring in but I found that classes at this new uni were so much more independently taught meaning you basically taught yourself and I fell behind and it doesn't help that I'm a science major taking all the worst classes (calc, orgo, biochem etc) as well as GPA not being transferrable. SOOO my question is, Do I dare invest the time to go to all these rush events and such and you know befriend the brothers and whatnot when essentially I believe I do not have the national GPA standard to get in? I don't think I'd be wasting my time if I did although I'm aware of the huge commitment of time being spent and such. I really want to get involved but if I am just straight up denied it would have me thinking about how I just spent the last month or so rushing. All this and assuming I do get a bid, would you think that there would be any chance/exceptions for me to get in?
Any thoughts/comments would help me out so much
the fraternity is sigma chi if you were curious!
