Buckwheat Just left!!!!
For all of you who know "Buck Wheat" he can be a huge asset to a chapter that is in need of some "coaching".
Myself and some other alumni donated the $$ for him to be at the house for a week.
If there are any of you out there that need a morale boost.... call Nationals and tell them that you want "Buckwheat"
I'd love to hear any other buckwheat stories if any of you have any.......

Look through the 17 pages of the TKE forum I know there is Buckwheat stories. Buckwheat drop by chapter about 3 or 4 years ago before he started to charge to come.

First of all it is International not 'Nationals' (big pet peeve with Canadians). My buckwheat story comes out of a conference held last month in New Hampshire, it was the first time for me to meet Buckwheat, and while he didn't come to our chapter he spoke with such emotion about TKE that one was almost taken aback by it. the fact is that while what was said was consequentially unimportant the voice in which he carried the message was not. TKE is a brother hood which streches across this continent, and which strenghthens relationships across many different borders and bounderies. It made the few Canadians who traveled down to Alpha Nu realize that we were infact part of something larger whether we saw it or not. And i should point out we corrected Buckwheat on the 'nationals' thing as well!

I feel you.... but,
"internationals" just doesn't sound right when referring to our HQ.
It's the same thing... our international / national HQ... both have the word "nationals" in it.....
Anyways, thanks for your post....

Canadian Soverignty is something that extends beyond the Fraternity. We as a nation will do anything to not be the 51st state, so when the fraternity IHQ is refered to as 'Nationals' it rubs alot of us the wrong way. Up here it is refered to solely as 'International' nothing else. i understand that there is never any offence ment when IHQ is refered to as Nationals but it still goes against our National Pride.

Buckwheat/Stu
No problem bro,
tell Stu that Rho Epsilon @ Northwood says hi, and that he still hasn't wrote me back about what positions might be open at "Internationals" (Nationals) this summer.
i know he's really busy and i'm just messing with him. Actually one of our Alumni (Tim Bouchard) is going to be here today to educate our "new members" (we all know what else their called). He is going to sit down with me to write my cover letter, i guess he worked with Stu on a couple things last year when they worked at HQ together last year.
I also wanted to give you guys a BuckWheat story.
Bouchard paid for BW to come and help us with Rush this year, and even though he is LOUD, HIGH STRUNG and BOSSY he was probably the best person to motivate our chapter about rush.
We had a week of outstanding dinners for the freshman guys. I don't know how it is at other schools but here at Northwood, rush week and some of the rules we have to follow are just plain stupid.
See, we can't even talk to any perspectives during the actual "RUSH" week, we can only talk to them at our Open Smoker....so we don't try to "buy" or "pressure" their decision.
Does that even sound like rush to anybody else?....no it doesn't
Anyway, BuckWheat came up the week before our so-called Rush and we had the dinners and activities, and beileve it or not it was actually a dry event, no brothers drank with the perspectives at these events. And we took 11 guys( Northwood is a small business school about 3,000 students so this # is actually better than average here) by the end of Rush week. I don't think we would of had even half as many commit if he hadn't shown us his ideas. Plus now we have the knowledge to try things like this again.
If anyone needs help with rush/recruitment give buckwheat a call. It was more than worth it.
And tell him that "ButterBall" (he only calls people by nicknames that he makes up when he meets you) from Rho Epsilon says hi.
