If you love Motown (or music in general) see this movie!

Mr. 33 and I went to see "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" Sunday night. If this comes to your town run don't walk to see it. It's all about the Funk Brothers, who were the band who played on all the great Motown hits but never really got any recognition. Part of the movie is them reuniting and playing live, and even though I've heard all the Motown songs a zillion times, hearing them done live makes it all new.

Plus Ben Harper, Joan Osborne, Gerald Levert and ESPECIALLY Chaka Khan sing their butts off. Chaka alone is worth the $7.50.

Ooh, I've heard about that movie! Do you know if it's only in limited release or when/if it will be opening all over?

Saw it. Absolutely fantastic!

As a disc jockey in the mid-60's, and a former Detroit broadcaster, this one really struck a chord (no pun intended) with me.

These relatively unknown people are/were the foundation Motown.

Joan Osborne was way over the top.

Definitely worth the time and price!

(Since it's basically a documentary, I don't think it will ever be mass distributed -- watch your local art theatres.)

But 33girl is right -- SEE IT!
