Carnation,
WOW! Congrats to your daughter and good luck to the other! I can only imagine how exciting it must be for her to start out her college career in that way. For a while I contemplated trying out for the cheerleading squad here and reading your post makes me wish I had...Oh well going to be a senior next year and never did. Well, once again congrats again and get ready its going to be a crazy summer with dance tryouts, cheer practice and getting ready for RUSH!!!

Too bad WG usually loses to Valdosta.
At least you can watch Carnation's daughter.

Arggghh! I remember why the recommendations business almost turned me gray with the first daughter! Half the sorority women who promised to do them have been in and out of the country all summer and others keep calling me back because they forgot where to send them or to fill out the back of their form so they still have 200 questions or--you name it!

Well, I have almost conquered it all and all I have to do is track down the KD, who seems to be in Honduras.

Carnation,

Congratulations again.

Gee, in all of their spare time, maybe they could just colonize a new Pi Phi chapter!

Just kidding.

I know you were just kidding, but HOW GREAT would that be?

Congrats, Carnation! It sounds like your daughters are going to have a great time!

And I just read the explanation about your family. I wondered how you could have 13 kids! I totally admire you for adopting kids. You seem like a great mom!

Cool

Hahahahaha! We just tracked down the KD recommender so they're through with recs. We scoured Atlanta malls for outfits and are through there too. Now all we have to do is practice talking to rushers!

Carnation, i'm glad to see that you found the KD! If not, i'm sure I or someone else could have helped.
How exciting this much be!
Have you convinced your daughters to join greekchat do they can let us know how rush is going? Those ongoing posts by people going through the rush process are so incredibly gripping! Can't tear myself away!
I hope we have quite a few of them this fall :O)

Scoured the thread but can't find the dates.
When do they leave for school?
When does rush start?
My stomach is starting to turn thinking about everything!

Carnation, I know they will do great and find their new "home".
My baby girl sends her best wishes to your girls. (hope that's not a RUSH INFRACTION! )

Rush starts a month from today! We take them down that morning. The weird thing is that they go down on Sunday and move into a rush dorm, taking only what they need for rush. Then on Wednesday they take their rush stuff and move into their real dorms, although rush doesn't end until Friday. Finally, the parents get to return on Friday and bring the rest of their stuff down! I don't know who thought that up but I am so enchanted with having to go all the way down to southernmost Georgia for the third time in 2 weeks! (The oldest has to be in her sorority house by August 3rd for rush workshop.)

I'm trying to convince them to do rush threads, although they're still embarrassed by featuring themselves on a thread. It might be easier on me than phone calls would, although back in the pre-cell phone days, rushees were put on strict silence (anyone remember that?) and not allowed to call anyone. Dorm phones were even turned off and rushees were watched like hawks lest they slip off to a pay phone.

I have warned them, though, to be diplomatic! To not say, "Every girl in ABC chapter had rank BO," or whatever, since they now know so many GCers!

JAM, please thank your daughter for us! I guess it's not a rush violation since there are no DGs down there!
