Rent the Runway

I can't believe there isn't a thread on this already!

Has anyone used RtR before? Good or bad experiences?

I am using Rent the Runway for the first time for an event this weekend, and I can not WAIT for the UPS man to get here today!

Its a website where you can rent designer clothes.
I know of people who have rented purses from Bag, Borrower or Steal, but don't know of anyone who has from Rent the Runway. I do get their daily updates, though

Now that you say that, I have read an article about them. I think it was something like 10% of retail price to rent. I've gotten so much stuff off the Saks clearance rack (that I get to keep) at 90% off, I'll stick to that.

I just pictured the UPS truck showing up at DBB's house and unloading an actual runway and her having a fashion show or pagent in her back yard. I was wondering why there would already be a thread on GC for that, but then again, it is GC so anything is possible.

I'm registered there, but haven't gotten anything yet. It's still just a touch too pricey for me. I mostly look at their sales that are under $50, but for $50-$100 i feel I can get a similar non-designer dress that I can keep.

I think it's a great idea, but it's just a touch too expensive for me. I do love that they provide and extra size, but my body's so weird that I have a lot of trouble with dresses I don't try on.

One of my friends used it for a wedding and thought it was great, though.

The dress has arrived, and it fits! It also came with some extra stuff, like double-sided tape in case I need to make, um, adjustments?

I ordered with a coupon code, so the whole thing was $47 with shipping and insurance, which isn't too bad. I really wanted something new for this wedding, and I'm sure I could have bought something at TJMaxx for like $50 anyway, so renting is only worth it if you find something you love love love and can't afford, or maybe if you rent something that will be out of style in a month.

Here's the dress (shamelessly hotlinked):

I was hoping it wouldn't be as bright as the photo makes it look, and it isn't...though of course my ass looks a lot bigger than the model's.

(and btw, if anyone wants to sign up, I'd love to send you an invite so I can get more coupon codes :-) )

So RTR now has a category for "sorority rush". Unfortunately, I don't know who the hell decided what to put there, because a lot of the dresses in that category are horrible. There's stuff I would wear for pref elsewhere on the site.
