Perhaps that provocative style doesn't have the desired effect with everyone, but I, at least, don't feel bashed.

Quoting MC because he said it all much better than I could myself, and I agree with it. I don't feel bashed by DrPhil. I've learned a lot from her posts over the years, and the take away hasn't been "white people are evil." It's been more about keeping my mind open to how my personal experiences (part of which is being white) shade my perceptions of others and events.

What the heck is the virus going around? I know dozens of people (myself included) who have had a cough, sore throat, and congestion for literally weeks. No fever, it's not strep - it's a real pain in the neck (literally).

 It doesn't matter. But it is funny that you want people to explain and convince you of the perceived offense. I don't care if you understand or agree with the perceived offense. That's why this isn't about disagreeing. You are free to disagree and even misunderstand. The problem is when you dismiss. That's what some of you white GCers do in almost every thread that mentions race. Since it tends to be white people who are so dismissive, this is about waaaaaay more than being rational and reasonable. This isn't about personality type and communication style. The GCers who are much less "provocative" than I receive the same response from some of the obtuse white GCers.
(Speaking of what usernames supposedly do in threads that mention race, I need to find every thread that mentions race and start a race war. That Ferguson thread was resurrected. Yet another race thread that slipped by my angry Black woman lens despite there being disagreements and back and forths in that thread.  )
