Jerry Lewis Uses the words "Illiterate Faggot" During Live Telethon
During the telethon, Jerry Lewis introduced someone as an "illiterate faggot" before remember he was on love TV.

Why do I get the feeling that this will merely be a footnote in entertainment and nowhere near the drama that surrounded the Isaiah Washington use of the word? Figures.

wow i had no idea that that happened. i was taking pledges on the phones in portland and we could see the national show, but not hear it. noone ever mentioned it there either.

I was cleaning yesterday and had the telethon on in the background, and my husband and I dropped what we were doing when we heard him say that. I know the man's crazy, but his humor just isn't funny anymore. That was bad, and he also went on after the cohosts read some pledges on the air to say "Thanks for wasting two minutes of our time reading names of people we don't even know."

aired clip, showed Lewis' apology, and moved on...

Remember when it would come on almost ALL day on Labor Day? I think it only showed one hour here. Most of what I saw was the local telethon.

Supposedly, this year was a record-breaking year in pledges.
Maybe JL will get a pass since he's elderly and all.
