Talking Asking girl to formal

I am a freshmen, I am very involved in my fraternity. Any way there is a junior girl i want to ask to formal. My school has non traditional greek life, we don't have houses and less than 5% of all students are involved, it is a larger school tho. So I cant decorate her house or anything like that, if you even do that in college.

Anyway I want to ask this girl but i'm not sure the protocol for college and I am trying to convey that we are going as friends.

Please help me!

You are overthinking this just about WAY too much. It's a date in nice clothes. But you are bringing back a memory. In my freshman year I asked a fraternity guy to fall party (a semi-formal I suppose) who I'd gone to school with from 1st grade. He said yes and then backed out. When we were SENIORS he finally told me his fraternity brothers had made a huge thing out of it, that it meant we were dating, all that. And of course we were just friends so he felt trapped and bailed. Don't be that kind of a dork. It's just a party, and your friend, 2 years your senior, certainly knows that. If you mean junior in high school, you'll have to be more clear that it's just a party and not prom. But still, Knight Shadow pretty much has it down. As he always does.

Well, not all women like flowers or go crazy when they receive them as though it is a promise of marriage. I hope they have fun at the formal.

You gotta have confidence. College women, in my experience, love guys that are confident. If you're at a big school like I was then you have an advantage by numbers alone. If you crash and burn just pick up and keep going. Afterall, it's just a formal, nice conversation, dinner and fun. I used to love it when my fraternity brothers' mouths would drop when I would pull in with my dates. I was confident and very selective. Now go for it!
