GPA when rushing?

Just out of curiosity-- I'm transferring to UGA this spring and I'm a sophmore. I'm going to rush in the fall [or spring, if any sororities offer it], and I have a 3.81 gpa here at Appalachian. UGA dropped it to a 3.38 because they counted my dual enrollment from high school..what would be considered a "good" GPA from a sororities point of view? I've been on dean's list both semesters here and deans list for one of those semesters as well, and I've been actively involved, but I do know that they're interested in the GPA standpoint as well.

There really is no way to determine what each UGA sorority sees as a "good" GPA. Sororities in general look for girls with good grades and also campus involvement.

What I CAN tell you is that you do want to be above each sororities' minimum GPA requirement, which I'm sure you are with a 3.38.

Sorority GPA requirements for upperclassmen aren't generally higher than 3.0. You can find the minimum GPA requirements most likely on the UGA Panhellenic website (or by calling the office).

Your GPA is certainly not something to worry about. It's a fairly good one.

A 3.38 GPA shouldn't be a big problem.

Every NPC sorority has a minimum GPA set on the national level, and some chapters have imposed higher GPA's than the national sorority has established. In the old days, when the pledge period was a semester long, if you didn't have the required GPA at the end of your pledge period, you didn't get initiated (usually you'd remain a pledge, and if you made grades the following semester, you'd be initiated at that time). Now that new member programs are only a few weeks long, if you don't have the minimum GPA going into recruitment, you will most likely be cut during recruitment.

But the minimum GPA set on the national level is not too onerous. AEPhi's is 2.0; I don't think any NPC sets a minimum lower than 2.0 or higher than maybe 2.8?

Plus, if it is brought up via recruitment (like you are asked about your gpa) tell them the truth that at AppState you had a 3.81 but UGA transferred it as a 3.38. Your not lying about your gpa. Your bragging (in a very pc nice way though )
